It is a major district town—a Große Kreisstadt—of the administrative region of Upper Bavaria, about 20 kilometres (12 miles) north-west of Munich. I feel if you are able to visit Dachau while in Munich it's worth a visit. It's a very sobering experience to walk through the grounds of this facility and to learn more about the history that took place here. We took the train from Munich and then the bus from the train stop. It was easy to get there as well. Give yourself a few hours to get through the entire facility.
