My husband and I have traveled to Europe over a dozen times in the last twenty years. We’ve always traveled independently doing our own research and making our own reservations. We’re very comfortable taking public transportation in Europe and have also driven rental cars. A few years ago, we started purchasing small group or private tours for day trips and museum tours. We find them to be a great value for the personalized experience you receive. The key is doing your research ahead of time and finding the right tour company for you. For our trip to Ireland in August 2019, I found several highly-rated companies that offered day trips in southern Ireland. We ended up selecting MunsterBus Tours and had a fantastic experience. We booked with MunsterBus Tours because of their good customer reviews and excellent customer service in planning the trip – specifically my interactions with Linda Conway. Linda and I emailed back and forth to plan our two day trips for 4 adults. She was very responsive and professional (with a nice sense of humor). She took the time to really think about the information I sent her and then responded with detailed information and personalized itinerary options for us to consider. I also emailed Linda while in Ireland for advice with something not related to our day trips and she responded immediately with very helpful suggestions. Great customer service! We were also delighted to find the actual day trips were very enjoyable. Our driver and guide for both days was Craig. He was knowledgeable, helpful, patient and a very good driver. He did a great job balancing informing us, entertaining us (we had fun singing Irish songs) and giving us quiet time. Craig made our time in southern Ireland even more enjoyable. When we return to continue our exploration, we will definitely use MunsterBus Tours!!

We had an amazing time learning about oysters and all sorts of local marine life including crabs, starfish, lobsters, sponges... it was really great! We learned how to properly shuck oysters; Gerry was extremely informative and generous. We definitely recommend this experience to everyone. PS: watch out for the lobster, she’s very protective of her space (or prob just wants to make new friends) ;)

This was by far the best tour we went on during our trip. All the places we visited are so beautiful and breathtaking. We were able to take our time at every location. We didn't feel rushed at all. James was the best guide. He is so knowledgeable. We learned so much about the history of Ireland and Northern Ireland. James is such cool guy and we are blessed we got to meet him. He recommended some great places. We are dying to go back. We will definitely be in touch for a future tour. We also did the Black taxi tour which is so interesting and informative. We recommend that as well, it is heartbreaking but very eyeopening. We are very glad to have had the opportunity to attend the Black taxi tour as well.

I'm so glad that we did a tour rather than trying to navigate the roads ourselves. Brian was a fantastic tour guide and filled us in on so much great history that we would not have known otherwise. Some of the roads are pretty narrow and windy as well, so having someone else drive meant that we could all enjoy the scenery.

My husband & myself were the only people on the tour on this day due to Covid affecting bookings. Jane agreed to give us the tour which was very kind of her & we enjoyed a private tour around the streets of Ennis. She shared many interesting facts about the history of particular buildings, monuments, lanes & streets. The tour normally takes one hour & would be suitable from the age of 12 years. Comfortable walking shoes necessary to move through the streets at a steady pace. We enjoyed the tour very much thanks to Jane.

We only had a few short hours, yet Sean offered suggestions of additional sites to visit that not only enhanced our tour, but really made our trip with Sean the highlight of our Ireland adventure. Sean was easy to communicate with and knowledgeable. Kudos to Sean for a memorable visit to Connemara! Sean will be our go to for future visits to Connemara.
