Mercado de San Anton

Reviewed By M1356QBdavidh - South Portland, United States

Mercado de San Antón, in the Chueca section of Madrid, is a multi-level market offering just about everything you can imagine. The first floor is dedicated to a traditional market. From meat, to fish, vegetables, to spices, oils and desserts; if you need it, chances are you can find it here. The second floor has a number of bars, and other places to get a quick bite to eat, and to sit for a bit. There is also a modern art gallery on this level. The third floor is taken up by the restaurant La Cocina de San Antón, which offers terrace seating with some nice views. The Chueca Metro stop is only about a half a block away, in the plaza of the same name. It's on the 5 line, so access from places like Gran Via are quite simple.
