Things to do in Columbia, South Carolina (SC): The Best Nightlife

August 12, 2021 Vergie Nakamoto

Columbia is South Carolina's capital and home to the University of South Carolina. Along Columbia's wide avenues are historic sites ranging from an antebellum mansion to the former home of a slave who bought her freedom, plus museums, galleries, music venues, theaters and shops. Columbia's three rivers, lake, canal, national park and several city parks offer opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Among the kid-pleasing destinations are a zoo and the largest children's museum in the south.

I have been here twice, once for free style painting and most recently for an event. This is a great paint studio that provides everything needed. They even have drinks for purchase. You can rent the venue and have food catered. Love the paintings throughout the venue that are also for sell. Highly recommend this for an anytime activity.

The Capital Club

South Carolina's oldest and most dignified private gay bar, The Capital Club has been an established and integral part of our community for over 34 years. One of the oldest gay bars in the Southeast, and the oldest in Columbia, the laid-back and friendly Capital Club is right around the corner from PT's 1109 and a block from the state capitol building - it's along a stretch of Gervais that's been a big part of the city's recent gentrification, and you'll find several notable restaurants and mixed bars along this block and continuing south for a few more. This is a good place to mingle at the bar and chat with locals - there's a long bar on the left as you enter, and plenty of cozy spots to sit and chat

World of Beer - The Vista

Reviewed By deambassador32 - Columbia, United States

Have you ever been to a place and wondered, why you are just learning about it? This is the way I felt on Wednesday February 26, 2020 about this restaurant. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself from the moment I got there until I departed late into the night. The waitress [Kelly] was a superstar, the moment I arrived, I felt like royalty, she was extremely attentive, she ensured I did not get overwhelmed with the variety of choices in beverages, rather, she gave her recommendations based upon my travels, and she was spot on. Even the selection of dinner she participated in. As an avid world traveler, such service I seldom see and must admit, one of the best services I have received in over 20 countries that I have visited. As a Professor in Business, this is exactly the type of service I talk about with my graduate students; “let every customer feel that they are the only one being attended to…” Superb job, Kelly, I will be back. As for the Restaurant, very laid-back, comfortable and welcoming. The food was great, and the beverages exceptional. Wednesday is trivia night, which added a nice touch to the night. If you are in Columbia area, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant as you will walk away with a feeling of pleasure.
