Museo Aeroespacial Colombiano

Colombian Aeroespace Museum. Located near to Bogotá. Next to Jaime Duque Park. It had 26 historical airplanes of the Colombian Air Force. Its new installations were opened on 1st december 2017.

For aviation/military enthusiasts or not, this is such an interesting place, which is child friendly and beautifully kept. The staff are very friendly and we found a very knowledgable Air Force officer who spoke perfect English, my Spanish is weak! Allow about 2 hours and there is a cafe on site with a nice patio. Got there by Uber from Bogotá, but there is bus service to the adjacent theme park ‘Parque Jaime Duque’

Museo Aereo Fenix

It is the only civil aviation and railroad museum in Colombia. See 27 full size aircraft and 4 locomotives, two model airports and two giant working model railroad layouts. More than 3500 models, many in realistic dioramas and the largest collection of airline flatware. There is also a collection of 30 uniforms and flying suits, both military and civilian.

As a family of four (my husband and our two adult daughters) we visited this exhibition in December 2017 and were very impressed. It's an excellent and vast collection of various means of transportation worth spending an afternoon or even a day to look at it closely. We are very grateful to Mr. Jose Guillermo Pardo for his passionate and detailed tour and historical knowledge. It is this type of exhibits that make me very proud of my hometown, Cali. Keep up the excellent work and I hope the city of Cali can provide additional funds to expand the exhibition to fit more airplanes and trains.

This was perhaps the most personal and touching presentation I’ve ever heard at a museum. Shenandoah is a young American woman who married a local school teacher. They turned part of his family home into a memorial museum. It’s also the site where some of the bloodiest conflicts between guerrilla groups and paramilitary armies took place in the very recent past. Shenandoah’s presentation of those bloody conflicts sets out a very nice overview that helps one understand both the modern history of this country and the present economic and tourist dynamic of this fascinating place. Donations accepted and you will come away from the a much deeper appreciation for where you are.

National Museum of Colombia

Colombia's oldest museum holds a vast collection of archeological artifacts, as well as modern art. The building itself is interesting — it's a former prison and many of the galleries are inside former prison cells.

Reviewed By viajera1741 - Washington DC, United States

This museum has everything--pre-Columbian collection, Colombian history from colonial days to recent historical events, and the top floor serves as a national art gallery. I appreciated particularly the many signs and interactive displays designed to engage children.

Gold Museum (Museo del Oro)

The Banco de la República Gold Museum houses one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic metallurgy in the world. As its history, which dates back to 1939, has unfolded, so this institution has become a symbol of Colombia's cultural memory. Its golden exhibition, fully renewed in November, 2008, is a place you cannot miss in your next trip to Bogota.

This museum was interesting and well set out - taking you on a journey from how the gold objects were made to their significance in the complex belief systems of the various native groups. The very last offering section of the museum (top floor) was amazing so make sure to leave enough time for it. Whilst there are small explanatory sections of text, I'd highly recommend getting an audio guide as it really set the scene and explained the objects in depth with very interesting points on their cultural context. There are numbers in the very top left hand corners of the displays which you tap into the audio guide (just in case you like me have basic Spanish and don't understand the instructions at the front desk!)

I have visited some interactive museums in the United Kingdom and I pleased to say that there were not significant differences with this museum. The interactive experience makes this place unique. It's a true travel through the Caribbean culture in Colombia. It's a "never miss" place to visit in Barranquilla. For your information, the surroundings have been refurbished in order to become in a touristic reference for the city. Near to the Museo del Caribe, you can find the Avenida del Río (River Avenue) and the Casa de la Aduana (Customs House).

Our favorite tourist destination in Medellin! An enchanting castle/ home, filled with antique treasures, baccarat chandeliers, Meissen vases, Ecuadorian and Colombian antique paintings! Beautiful grounds and overhead scarlet macaws and screeching parrots ! Entrance on the hour; no photography inside exhibits; breathtaking views! Highly recommend!
