A great tour of a very good vinery - Diogo is the perfect host - not only talking about Colqares, but is very enthusiastic and informative of winw in Portugal as a whole. The tasting is generous and gives an insight of the different styles they make. A bit expensive at 20 Euros, but still very much recommended.

Casal Sta. Maria

Europe's westernmost vineyard in the region of Colares, Sintra - In between the magnificence of the Atlantic Ocean and the mystery of the Sintra Mountain. A one of a kind history that will change your perspective on life followed by a tasting of a very distinct portfolio of wines. What a pleasant and generous tour of Casal Sta.Maria. With our excellent and knowledgeable guide, Joao Ribas, the walk through the vineyards and view to the Atlantic was more than enough to give 5 stars. And then there were the wines. Complex and astounding for such a small family vineyard. Suffice to say I’ve bought quite a lot especially the late harvest (especially unusual for this area). If you want to experience a unique and unspoilt part of Portugal near Lisboa go to Casal Sta. Maria.

Easily the best lunch meal we ate whilst visiting the Sintra National Park area of Portugal. I had a selection of breads with dips and pickles followed by vegetarian chilli and completed with a portion of apple pie. The food was absolutely amazing and great value for money. Very unique feel to the whole place with this being part of an art gallery with lots of amazing and quirky pieces available to buy. Highly recommend eating here.
