I had a great time with Javier. He's a cool guy and his English is excellent. Going up the trails can be hard work but coming down them on the bike was honestly some of the best fun I've ever had. I did fall off once but it was 100% worth it, go at your own pace coming down and you'll be fine. The lunch provided was delicious and we finished it off with a nice cold pint. Brilliant tour.

Meet your host Jorge at his home and drive to the local market together. Jorge will give you a tour of the market and you may even buy fresh ingredients to use in your cooking class later. Jorge offers a hands-on experience, where you will get to cook along with him in his small kitchen. The cooking portion of the experience will last for 1 hour and you will learn to make an appetizer and dessert.  A few dishes that you might try are palta reina with tuna (tuna stuffed avocado), fresh bruschetta with Chilean canned mussel, pastel de papas (a classic dish made in Chilean homes, not always found in restaurants, it is something close to a shepherd’s pie) and Chilean Papayas with cream.  This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about Chilean culture and cuisine from a warm and welcoming local - you're sure in for a real treat!

Inclusions: Private market tour and cooking class with your host Jorge, homecooked meal, Local alcohol (1-2 glasses), Non-alcoholic beverages, All taxes, fees and handling charges, Gratuities

Exclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off

I can't say enough great things about Carol! She's beautiful, wonderful, educated, well-traveled, charming, great cook, teacher and hostess. You can have Chilean food in any restaurant, but the experience of cooking in a local's home and having Carol guide you through the cooking process while telling you colorful stories about life in Chile makes this a a great way to learn about a culture and country through a local--truly a priceless experience. Only thing I regret was I scheduled for the first day I arrived after a 14hr overnight flight. Still, it was of the best events I did in Chile!

We took a full day tour with Sebastián. It was brilliant! The Guide Sebastián is from Rapa Nui and so was able to combine the factual history aspects of the island with enthusiasm and knowledge of the current culture. He knew everything about each of the sites we visited. On top of that, he is involved with the restoration and preservation on the island so gave us more background knowledge on the places we visited. He answered every question we had and showed us photos and pictures on a kindle as we went along (it was great to use the kindle rather than a phone or tablet so the sun didn't created a glare - just an indication that he'd actually thought about the guest experience rather than just going through the motions of his usual tour). The tour We got picked up from our hotel in a 4x4 at 9am and travelled around the island for the day. It's worth taking some snacks for the car as it's a pretty full on tour from 9am until 3pm. Take water and sunscreen as well. We told Sebastián that we only had one day on the island and he immediately adapted the tour to cover the sites he thought would be most important and most interesting. We were very grateful for this as we would have missed out on visiting Orongo otherwise. We started at a restored traditional village. We were the first ones there - even before the staff. I was a bit skeptical of this part of the tour but it laid the foundations for the entire day so was important to see - for me, that's the difference between having a professional tour guide and doing a DIY tour. We then visited Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki, Anakena Beach, Ahu Nau Nau and Orongo (in that order). See my photos for which site is which. We had plenty of time at each of them - not rushed and not bored / waiting around either. For me, the highlight was Rano Raraku and it was great to be one of the first people there. The customer service KavaKava tours were great when booking the tour. Alejandra is very responsive and helpful. We asked Sebastián to take some photos of us during our tour and he was able to send these on within about 5 minutes of us asking when we got home! Summary Our experience on Easter Island was fantastic. If you are wondering whether to get a private tour then I would recommend doing so and I cannot recommend KavaKava tours enough. They were brilliant!

Sean was awesomely the best of the bestest - very highly recommended!!! We toured Valparaiso and Vina del Mar with him, and he dropped us off at Santiago for our cruise embarkation the following day. That was our first trip to South America - our pre-cruise tour, as we cruised Chile, Antarctica, Falkland Islands, Argentina, Uruguay - still so many places to explore in this area. We will definitely come back, and use Sean's company again...

Carla and Brian were amazing guides and provided informed and entertaining commentary for our trip out to Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. Communication prior to hotel pick up was great and we had a relaxing time walking the cobble-stoned streets of Valparaiso learning the history and taking in the street art. We had lunch at Vina Del Mar with local beers and Pisco sour cocktails!! Highly recommend this tour or any other tour with Discover Santiago- we would have like to have ventured into the mountains, however, COVID-19 had other plans for us and we had to return to Australia following the cancellation of our holiday.

My guide, Sebastian, did an outstanding job explaining the culture, history and anthropology of the island and of there Rapa Nui people. Rapa Nui himself, his passion for his people - on both a personal and a scholarly level - made every stop a fascinating window into the story of the island. I can't recommend KavaKava highly enough.
