Szechenyi Lanchid

Completed in 1849, this bridge was the first to be built across the Hungarian section of the Danube and is now considered to be one of the city's major landmarks.

This beautiful bridge is the joining point over the Danube, linking shops, restaurants etc to the beautiful castle area, very pleasant walk and photo opportunities, enjoy seeing the river cruise boats, which when I was there were lots.

Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag hid)

Reviewed By BigHugh51 - Adelaide, Australia

During our first morning in Budapest, we had been to see the Central Market Hall and then we wanted to make our way across the River Danube from the Pest side to visit the Buda side of the river. The most direct route for us to do this, was to walk across the Liberty Bridge. The bridge has a charming tarnished green appearance and its main span stretches across the central part of the river. The roadway part of the bridge carries heavy traffic as well as trams. There are footpaths for pedestrians on both sides of the roadway. We took a great deal of time to cross the bridge as there were just so many wonderful views and photo opportunities from various vantage points on the bridge. Certainly a must visit location any tourist spending time in central Budapest.

The Elisabeth Bridge is rebuilt of original eclectic flamboyant style bridge, which was completely destroyed by the withdrawing German troops at the end of WWII. It is a very elegant white bridge.

Megyeri Bridge was opened in 2008. It has a really nice structure. You can go through by foot, bike or by car (2*2 lanes). It is a 1,800 meter-long bridge. It is a nice piece of modern architecture!
