We toured the vineyard in the evening, followed by an incredible dinner. My group of 4, including an 18 year old, was joined by a group of 6 and we mixed really well. That was due in large part to Alphonso, our tour guide/leader for the evening. We had a very interesting tour of the facility and the wine making process, then a lovely early evening stroll through the vineyard. We arrived at the house on the hill for dinner and were blown away at the view...incredible. Dinner was copious and delicious, served with a selection of the wines produced on site. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and billed the evening as a highlight of our trip.

We visited in late January having booked on line. The winery is unusual in that it is in the town centre, just behind the railway station, so is very convenient to walk to. Rafaella was friendly and welcoming and very informative about the history of the company and the reason for it's location, and the wine making process. It goes without saying that we enjoyed tasting the wines, in fact so much so we ordered several boxes of the Lachrima Christi del Vesuvio to be shipped home. They arrived just a week later. I am happy to report we are enjoying it just as much here in miserable weather in February in England as we did in Sunny Sorrento.

The tradition brought ahead by the brothers Gaetano and Alfredo Falluto goes up again to the 1927. We are in the heart of the Sannio, in one of the numerous countries of the wine, in an earth that enjoys of a particular climate, where the rows of the grapevines and the green head of hair of the ulivis draw the sunny and uncontaminated hills.
