I never pass by this Memorial but I think of the great sacrifices of those who bravely gave their lives that we might live. It is a noble and powerful memorial to them.

We were staying at The Dolphin Hotel the is one minute away from At Ives Town Centre and right in the centre is a large Black looking figure of Oliver Cromwell My sister wanted some pics taken and we Sat for a while on the bench under the Statue people watching ...lol as you do

I was very impressed with the Cathedral Square and the streets each side. Leaving the cathedral through the arch this large open space confronts you with the ancient buildings in the middle - very good for sheltering from the showers - and, beyond them, St John's church. Around the edge are many useful shops, banks and eateries and the boulevards each side are wide with many shady trees and benches, a real bonus in hot weather as are the ground level intermittent fountains which the children were enjoying.
