Gold Coast Paddlesports

This half day adventure will allow you to experience the Gold Coast's cultural heritage, a subtropical forest hike with majestic city and coastal views, a Kayak Eco Tour along pristine calm water, and a visit to check out some Aussie animals at a heritage listed Wildlife Park. Tour 1: Start your day being greeted at Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre by your Indigenous Guide, then set off on an awesome hike through Burleigh Heads National Park via lush subtropical bushland and epic views. Your Guide will provide you with insight on the rich history and cultural significance of this sacred land, as well as introduce you to some 'Bush Tucker' and stories from 'The Dreamtime'. Tour 2: After some morning tea, time to burn off some calories and embark on a mini adventure, kayaking through Tallebudgera Creek. Despite it's central location, 'Tally Creek' still remains relatively untouched and favours us by providing pristine turquoise waters surrounded by lush bushland and mangroves. The paddle is easy going on calm and shallow waters and we'll break for a swim on a small island along the way. Tour 3: We'll arrive by kayak to the small but unique David Fleay Wildlife Park where you'll have the chance to meet some Aussie wildlife such as crocodiles, koalas, kangaroos, emus, dingoes and their resident platypus 'Wally'. Stroll through their natural habitat whilst exploring and if timing allows, join the Rangers in one of their daily wildlife shows.

Burleigh Head National Park

Reviewed By 333Sally333 - Burleigh Heads, Australia

The national park at Burleigh Heads is a treasure...it over looks the the ocean and puts you in touch with wildlife and nature. There are 2 main walking tracks - the lower track is easy and only takes about 15 mins to reach the other end, which is the Tallebudgera creek bridge, which you can then go for a swim in the creek. The upper track is a bit more challenging and hilly but worth it for the views at the top. It also ends at the same place as the lower track. You can walk one way on the lower track and come back on the upper so you cover both tracks. There are lots of vantage points along the way to watch the surfers catch waves or watch boats go across the breakers into the creek. Many bush turkeys make their homes in the park as well as many lizards and i have also spotted an echidna - so amazing. Its a nice stroll up from the village of Burleigh. Many people use it as their running route.
