This is probably the best winery in south Bulgaria for visits and tasting. Unlike most others you can just drop in during work hours and there will always be someone to show you around and conduct the tasting. The prices are great for the experience and quality of wine that you taste. The tour is interesting and informative. Buy the higher tasting package as it includes the best wines from Villa Melnik + a wonderful cheese and meats platter. Everyone in the winery is very friendly and this just makes the experience truly great. Last but not least - the view of and from the winery is nothing short of a Tuscan postcard!

Villa Vinifera

Villa Vinifera wine cellar was built in 1936. It is one of few wineries in the world that still operate in traditional style- only in oak barrels. The wine ages deep underground in optimum conditions. Thus the products of Villa Vinifera winery differ with its distinctive quality and style.

Villa Vinifera organised a party for 60 guests. They went above and beyond to make it one of the very best parties I've attended. The locally sourced food was incredible. The atmosphere was amazing. They even brought in wine cocktail waiters, traditional singers and dancers and musicians. They also organised for a coach to pick up our guests in the centre of town and drop them home in the evening. Thank you Rosi, Dimitar and Maria for all your efforts and for making us feel welcome.

We went to this winery because we saw the pictures and heard about the wine. We were not disappointed on either front. The view was astounding and the wine tasted amazing. We tried 3 different wines and bought a bottle of each. The staff was super friendly and dedicated to their craft and the area. I can't recommend trying this place enough.

Zagreus Winery

The Kostadinov family set up the vineyards in the land of Vinica villade in the autumn of 1999. This area of the Upper Thracian valley is one of the most favorable regions in Bulgaria for growing grapes in terms of soil and climate. Currently, the winery owns a vineyard area of 120 hectares. The cultivated grapes are Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Since the beginning we are very focused on making wines with unique character. Therefore the Mavrud is our most important grape. We have a lot of interesting wines out of this grape as well as the best wine - Vinica. The high quality and local wines is not the only what we care about. Since 2010 the vines have been cultivated organic. This aims to reach a higher wine quality in the spirit of protecting the surrounding nature
