Had a good ride, bikes were ok but abit dated. Guide was very friendly and helpful. gear was adequate. They don’t tell you that the scary part is mostly in the cloud forest so views are obscured so it’s not scary. My only complaint was the pictures they took were boring. They don’t want you to take your own camera most likely because one would stop too much holding others up but if you can take Picts on the fly then take your own pictures.

3. Chacaltaya & Valley of the Moon
The trip that we made consists of having beautiful memories of the Chacaltaya mountain which facilitated the ascent to this, venturing us in the altitude until reaching the top 5400 msnm later this tour is combined with the Valley of the Moon that we will cross all the city to arrive, once arrived we will feel that we have reached a place like the moon with incredible formations of the eroded earth.

Did the Chacaltaya + Moon Valley and Tiwanaku with the guide Leo and he was the worst guide I had in South America. The guy just seemed in a bad mood all the time, like he didn’t want to be there. Didn’t talk or explain much of the places we visited. Not to mention they were 1 hour late for pick up both days (and I was the first pickup both days). For Chacaltaya the bus had no safety belt, and the road up the mountain is quite narrow and windy. The Tiahuanacu tour was 2 hours shorter than what was sold. The pickup was 1 hour late from what I was told (and I was on the first pickup of the day), and we left for La Paz 1 hour earlier than the time I was told we should be getting back. There was virtually no free time in the museum and in the archeological site, and we didn’t visit one of the 3 museum included in the entrance we payed. The guide Leo was rushing all the time with no need, which caused the tour to be shorter than expected. Overall, a very bad guide and a very superficial visit. It would have been better going by myself and hiring a guide in the place.

It must have been 100F with 100% humidity furing our January trip. Even though it was furing the tsiny seasom, we were blessed with 3 fully sunny days. The tour leaders were very knowledgeable and friendly and the staff was very efficient. We only wished they turned on the power in the morning when we have to be ready to go by 4:30a. And wished there was a fan in our cabins to circulate the air. Still, a very memorable experience.

We are young physicians and health workers starting our career fighting coronavirus in the United States who booked a Perla de Bolivia tour for April 2020. We could not go because of our work, and gave this company 4 weeks' notice that we would not be able to travel due to our work. Of course, it was also unsafe to travel and our flights were all canceled as well due to COVID. We would not be able to use any vouchers due to the nature of our work and unpredictability of our schedules. Perla de Bolivia originally said they would refund us the entire amount, and then reneged on their promise. They are the only tour operators to do this and we found it shameful they will not offer us a refund despite COVID and our work.

We booked a tour to the Valley of The Moon and Mt Chacaltaya out of LaPaz. We were there in November, 2019 during the post election protests. We met our guide, Patti, at a rendezvous point near the Prada. The pick up was about 30 minutes late. The part of the tour to the Valley of the Moon was canceled due to protestors blocking the road. We received no refund. We did drive to Mt Chacaltaya and scrambled to the top. Although the walk is not steep and the path pretty good, be prepared for a tough climb given the altitude of about 17,000 feet. You will need to take numerous stops and the climb will take longer than you expect. The views of the surrounding Andes Mountains was spectacular. Well worth the effort. Overall the trip was fine, but make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Also, we were somewhat disappointed by the reluctance of our guide to stop and allow us to take pictures at various places on the trip. If you choose to take this trip, be sure to inquire carefully about the logistics.
