Pruhonice Park and Castle, classified as part of the Historic Centre of Prague - UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992, is one of the crown jewels of the Czech Republic's national historical parks and an exceptional example of a European landscape park of this style. Covering an area of approximately 250 hectares, the park has a privileged location just 15 kilometres southeast of Prague, making it easily accessible and a perfect destination for either a sunny afternoon or a long weekend. I arrived in Pruhonice quite early and after leaving my baggage at the hotel wanted to spend a few hours walking and the park seemed ideal. I’m glad I did, not much else in the center of town aside from restaurants and a spa. I could have spent many more hours walking the paths and just relaxing after a long flight. I recommend the exhibitions in the castle where you can look quickly or dive in deep. I learned about various trees, food crops, gardens, and a variety of vegetation. Much is in Czech, German, and English. The yellow trail is fastest and the easiest, red and blue are longer and have more hills. I did a combination and it’s easy to shorten any of the walks if pressed for time. All the photos I’ve posted are from along the yellow path or courtyard. I may return tomorrow as it was just a great way to unwind and relax.

Six of us came to Prague Castle. We spent an hour or so wandering through, then joined the free tour associated with our Hop On-Hop Off two day ticket. The tour was done by a spectacularly good young French girl, Caroline, whose knowledge of English, history and her humour made for a wonderful couple of hours. The highlights of the castle include the three courtyards with their splendid surrounding buildings, the Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane, the Powder Tower, St George's Chapel, the gardens and, of course, St Vitus Cathedral started in 1344 but not finished until 1929. Hugely crowded, but a great day out.

Take a train ride to Benesov and explore the walk to Konopiste from there. Nice museum which is open from 31st March till summer end. Nice restaurant with wild menu available for food lovers.

Purfect, really. Kids now 8 and 9 years and they mad a long tour about 80 minutes. Our tour guide was a professional who made interested even the kids with questions or crown jewelry... Very nice autumn trip.

Took a day trip from Prague to this old town as there are so many photos & bloggers reviews about it. It’s really worth a visit although it’s a 3hours ride from Prague. CK castle of course is the no 1 attraction if you want to have a panoramic view of the whole town. You can take a leisure walk around the castle compound where each & every corner gives you different view of the Old Town. Take a short climb to the top of the tower of course is the only way to have a panoramic view of the scenery.It’s definitely a wonderful place to visit !

The Hluboká Castle is conveniently located 10 km from České Budějovice, thus making it a great place for one day trips. It is apparent the village of Hluboká nad Vltavou is a prospering place so summer 2020 has seen it full of reconstruction works. Also, be aware this place is very popular so you may expect crowds. You can either walk from the central parking place or take a train up to the castle. I suggest walking, you can enjoy the picturesque streets better. The walk is 15 minutes tops. However, families with children will appreciate the opportunity not to go on foot. When you have made it to the top you can have a guided tour of the inside of the castle and enjoy the beautiful park and admire the views of the castle at your own pace. Suitable for all ages. When in South Bohemia, do give this castle a go. You do not have to be a history or architecture enthusiast to enjoy this place.

If you go to Litomyšl, you should not miss this great monument. A 50 mns long guided tour offers a nice summary of its long history though not too detailed. The equipment is mostly genuine and well taken care of. On the second floor, there is also a separate exhibition of pictures connected to the town which is worth visiting.

We made a jump on the way from South Bohemia back to Prague, just 30 minutes from Hluboka. Late october with colorfull trees, confluence of Vltava and Otava rivers and the medieval castle. It was an overvelming atmosphere.

As a desert rose the small red castle shines between the trees, like from a fairy tale, from your dreams:-)... Very nice interiors. A unique monument!!! There is a pond around it but for a long time, it is without water. For this time forget about a romantic boat ride. A footpath around the pond... Be aware that the part of it is not suitable for prams. Parking near the castle.
