As members of the museum, we were invited to special early hours for members-only viewing. What a delight! The Boca Raton Museum of Art is always outstanding, with wonderful traveling exhibits to supplement their collection. But those members-only visits were like an oasis in this coronavirus desert.

The Children's Museum of Boca Raton

My now 4-year old granddaughter and I have made a few visits here since she was a toddler, and she always loves it. Don't expect anything grand - it's just an old house with each room set up as a play space, plus some things to do outdoors. Currently, one room is a fully-stocked grocery store, another is a veterinarian's office, one is a dress-up/theater/music space, and one is what I call the "boy room" - it has a little house with construction tools, and some police and fire gear. There is also a mini room with some large magnetic tiles, a huge light-up pegboard in the little lobby area, and a room for babies to explore. Outside are some ride-on toys, a pirate ship/slide, and a huge water table. They offer daily story reading and an arts & crafts class for a small extra fee. (The young lady who currently teaches it is the niece of a museum-recognized artist who obviously loves her job and is fantastic with the parents and the kids!) I would like to see more chairs scattered around the place so the grown-ups can sit while the kids play, and I wish it were open on Sundays, since that's when many grandparents and working parents are looking for things to do with the kids!
