Vihren is Bulgaria's second and the Balkans' third highest peak with its 2914m. But if we compare it with the highest one in Bulgaria, it’s definitely harder to climb. Among the way to the top we are going to enjoy amazing views of the best Bulgarian ski resort - Bansko, a lovely valley, and some amazing lakes and peaks. At 8am your guide will pick you up from your hotel. The hike starts from Vihren hut (1950m). To arrive there, we need 2.5 hours and on the way we will have a coffee break. In order to climb the peak, we have to overcome 3km long hike and 966m displacement. It takes approximately 2.5-3 hours on the way up. On the top we will have a break to enjoy the view and a meal. The way down takes another 2.5 hours. The hiking path is with medium difficulty, mainly rocky, so you need comfortable hiking shoes. There is almost no shadow along the whole hike so take sunglasses, a hat, sun cream and enough water; light jacket (sometimes it is windy) and some food.

Inclusions: Private driver- guide, Hiking trip to Vihren peak, Transportation with an A/C car with free Wi Fi , Hotel pick up and drop off

Exclusions: Food & personal expenses, Gratuities

We had a marvelous time on this tour with Lachezar Gudev as our guide. He guided us through a personal route on the mountain right to Kemendall viewpoint in witch he took our sense for adventure, our fysical condition and our disabilities into account. This way he made the road to the viewpoint at least even interesting as the viewpoint itself, which is really something you can not miss when you visit Sofia. We also learned much about Bulgarian daily life and the bulgarian filmindustry from our guide that also seemed to know a lot about other touristic places in Bulgary. In short we couldn't be in better hands during this trip that was a great succes with many thanks to this wonderfull man. We advise this tour to anyone who wants to discover Sofia and likes to be in the nature as well, as we also would advise you to turn to Lachezar Gudev if you want a good guide or some good tips for a trip in Bulgary

8. Melnik and Rupite - Private Day Trip from Sofia

City Tour

Melnik is considered the smallest town in Bulgaria, nested in the South slopes of Pirin mountain, among sand pyramids with queer forms. The findings from the antiquity discovered upon the archaeological diggings testify for its centuries-old history. The wine which is produced by the unique Bulgarian brand Wide Melnik Vine has a wonderful quality, scents of ripe cherry, herbs, and in the presence of oak it develops nuances of tobacco and leather. You will have time for a lunch break in a local restaurant and after it you will continue to the nearby “Rupite” area, located about 30 km. away from Melnik. This place is considered as sanctuary because it is associated with the famous Bulgarian prophet Vanga, who spent the last years of her life there. Near the house where she was living in 1994 was built the church Saint Petka, which is interesting with its different style of frescoes and icon paintings.
