Things to do in Birmingham, England: The Best Traveler Resources

January 26, 2022 Renato Branum

The geographical heart of England, Birmingham started life as a sixth- century Anglo-Saxon village. Today, much of this city of over a million dates back to post-WWII redevelopment in the 1950s and 60s. Cutting edge museums and galleries, innovative theaters and excellent shopping have contributed to Birmingham's appeal as a weekend break destination. Don't miss the hopping bars and cafes of Gas Street Basin or the fascinating creatures at the National Sea Life Centre.

Travelled to Birmingham from Cornwall for Transatlantic sessions concert at the Symphony Hall! Certainly not disappointed! comfortable seats, brilliant acoustics and a fabulous show. well done to everyone involved! Only downside was the price of drinks at the venue! two very small soft-drinks, over £8 !!! I think that is a bit cheeky!

Simply magical with all the Christmas stalls selling decorations, presents, lights, toys. Plenty of food stalls to choose from to keep u going. Extremely busy though so if your not a crowd person it’s not for u. Book tickets before hand online and u get them cheaper than on the door. Would definitely recommend a visit.

No1 Lounges

Reviewed By rmlrochester

i do think its fair to say that trip advisor needs to look into these reviews as there maybe a mix-up as i find it hard to believe the poor reviews on the site. I have yet again visited the No1 Lounge in Birmingham airport but went for the clubrooms visit and again got a very warm well, i booked 2 weeks in advance and was given a fast track security pass as part of my booking for free (normal £3.50 at the airport) the clubrooms are a good size have have toilets inside,Drinks section is brilliant you are also allowed cocktails and the food it of good Quilty...So i find it hard to understand what or why there is a problem, Some have said 'terrible service in a dirty room" or save your money' and "rude staff" i have to say none of this is true the lounges are spotless and the staff in my opinion work very hard and always on hard to help. While the cost may not appeal to everyone i think its great value a drink from the bars in departures at a bar for a pint is around £4 £5 plus of you want food that's around another £6 then a magazine etc etc you have spent upwards of £20 £30. i Paid £28 for my access as always purchase via group-on or when a deal is on offer, i get unlimited drinks a meal i can use wifi for free charge my phone laptop etc read free newspaper or magazines and staff will keep me updated on my flight i have use of clubrooms WC and its not overcrowded plus a great view of the runway, So again unless you have had a bad experience report the lounge but a few of the comments i have seen are very untrue and unfair they are a great way to start your holiday and i will continue to use
