Rando was a great driver, tour guide, restaurant guide, photographer, mentor. He went beyond on helping me find my luggage that was in the airport in Italy. He was by far the best tour leader/driver I’ve ever experienced in my travels over 57 countries. I was a little skeptical to travel during the pandemic but I’m so glad I did because everything went smoothly. I have already recommended Rando and Good Albania to several of my friends. I hope one day to return to Albania. Thank you Good Albania for the amazing memories!

An interesting site, some 30 odd km north of the Capital,Tirana. Located on a hillside giving spectacular views of the countryside. Mostly in ruin, but there are some new builds, one which is popular with locals for wedding photos. There are two small museums on site, and that's about it.

Explore one of the oldest and best wine-producing regions in Albania and know the history of Berat; how it started producing wines in the 8th century BC. Meet the families who started growing grapes in their own gardens and backyards so they could create Rakia and wine for personal consumption. Eat lunch in a small village and walk in the vineyards We are proud to tell that Berat has its indigenous grape called Puls/Pules – Though originally used to make rakia, a traditional fruit brandy popular in Albania, this grape now yields some of the finest dry white wines in the country. With its delicate floral bouquet and a long finish, this could be a worthy addition to your wine cellar. This grape grows in the Berat County of Albania. We had the best time on this tour. Our guide Randi and our driver Erjon were very knowledgeable and happy people. It took us longer on the hike because we had a 3 year old child with us, but that was no problem even though the tour took altogether longer than expected. We felt safe and the lunch stop was very nice as well. We learned a lot about the Albanian culture as both spoke very good English. Thank you for creating such a great memory for us!!

Visited these guy’s shop whilst just passing by chance. Decided to book one of their trips to the waterfall and to see the canyon as had a day to kill. I’ve done a fair few of these trips but Spiro and Randi really tried their best to tailor to our needs. We basically didn’t want to be out for a whole day trip so they cut it back to around 4 hours which was enough to cram in the highlights. Good English were really knowledgeable about the area and history

Shkoder is a lively city with a nice old part. But the best is the old castle a little bit outside, up on a hill, which you can reach by car. But to enter the castle, from where you have enormous views over the rivers and lakes. At the end of the castle, a little bit hidden, there is a cosy cafe from where you can also see the great landsacpe. But don't forget to use good shoes for sightseeing.

MAK OLIMPIK TRAVEL ALBANIA

Have real experience of the local culture. Lunch is a unique affair in a traditional house within the castle run by a local couple. This is the absolute possibility to experience Albanian home cooking and is not to be missed. After visits and optional lunch at the castle with homemade specialities we make our way down to the old district of Mangalem where we will visit the Kings Mosque and Helveti Tekke next to each other. Religious monuments of different faiths stand together demonstrating the religious tolerance of Albanians’. On the way back to Tirana we stop at a local winery run by a family from Berat, where we can sample one of the best Albanian wines.

9. Daytrip to Berat

AlbanianVibes

We’re very glad to be able to talk about our project “Albanian Vibes”. We were not really expecting this to become a real business. This was basically something we did just for passion until it started to become our main activity, while we still had to go at work...and yes, on the other side our university studies. It was impossible to be managed with the tips that our guests were giving, for which we are so grateful. So at some point we thought why not to turn our passion into our profesion, and that's what we did. We decided to call it "Albanian Vibes" because that's what we want to share with you... not showing how beautiful is that and that place or building, but sharing vibes with you, the Albanian vibes: Sharing Albania as we locals live it. We want to share the history of Albania, focusing on the stories and experiences. We want to bring innovation into doing business in tourism, we want to bring modern and unconventional tours. That's our aim!

We did not pick Dorien Malaj as our guide in Albania; we were matched up by one of the travel industry’s many anonymous middle men—but the moment we actually met Dorien, we knew we had gotten lucky. He was quick to identify our particular interests and to adjust accordingly. Our focus in Albania was their “accursed mountains” in the north east. We expected that in getting from Dubrovnik to Albania, Montenegro would be little more than a “drive through”. However, Dorien took us on a stunning mountain route that included the two beautiful but very different towns of Kotor and Cetinje, which really put Montenegro on the map for us, an added bonus. Dorien was so well-informed and happy to share both the hard facts and the subtle cultural nuances we were observing. His interactions with local people were very interesting to observe, and his background in Psychology gave him an interesting perspective, greatly enhancing our experience. His personal interests were so varied and wide, and that made looking through his eyes very stimulating for us and made conversation very productive. There was no subject off limits—about either Albania or the US. Dorien has a nice sense of humor that seemed to match ours…so that we had lots of fun together, too. It was a very easy and open relationship.
