Are you craving a historical military-based adventure in Barbados? Have you ever wondered what military life was like during the colonial period? Then boy have I got a story for you! I was here to defend this gem of an island and it was nothing like what I would have expected as a soldier. My story is bittersweet, but nonetheless, has to be told. I want to tell you about the prison and the walk of shame I had to endure. About the services offered around the “Savannah” and all the joys that can be drawn from this area despite the hardships that have made it what it is. Join me by the Barbados Museum and Historical Society for a culturally rich journey into history. On this intriguing walking tour, I will show you the Garrison I lived in. The changes it has undergone. All the while paying homage to me by preserving my legacy.

Our tour package, which is tailored for small groups, is aimed at maximizing the authentic experience of a Speightstown tour through the eyes of an informed local. The most defining feature of Speightstown is the 17th century pre-colonial architecture. You will get to visit and learn the stories behind historic buildings that date back to the early settlements as you experience the sense of development that has taken place in the town which is evident by the integration of modern architecture. With forts lining the coasts of Barbados, one would expect that Little Bristol would also have its share of protection. You will also get to interact with the people of Speightstown. Myself and a friend had a fantastic food tour in January. Janelle was a fantastic guide. It was great to learn more about Barbados and Bridgetown in particular whilst trying out lots of local food enroute. We tried lots of new food and got an idea of what food you could buy where. It would be a great idea to do this tour at the start of your trip so you can try out local Bajan food and then know what to order in future. If you want to hear more about it, I talked about it on my podcast - Life in Barbados: A Year on a Parardise Island'.

We had a fantastic time at the cocktail masterclass. A huge thank you to Romal who is very knowledgeable, friendly and a great guide to all things rum!!! We loved it and will be back to do more experiences. We now know how to make a number of great cocktails and can choose which rum works with what mixer and which one is great for sipping. We particularly loved learning about the history of Mount Gay and our favourite is the XO. Thank you Romal. See you again.
