Ottoman Turkish Bath

Reviewed By footballcoachwilkie - Bolton, United Kingdom

I arranged this the night before, as I wanted to see a bit of Selcuk. It was arranged to be picked up at 9, to go to the Hamman in Selcuk, then I would spend a bit of free time in Selcuk, before returning to my hotel. The driver was spot on time, though I was a bit thrown as we went to the Hamman in Kusadasi-they have 2, one in Kusadasi and one in Selcuk. I clarified that I would be going to Selcuk after ect. This was all fine, but I was thrown again by the guy trying to offer me what I was having done at a much higher price and then upselling. Once he understood that I had already pre arranged what I was having done along with the price, all was good and I could start to relax and enjoy the experience. The place is pretty new/refurbished, though doesn't have that brand new look, so adds to the authenticity. Due to being October and the current situation, it was quiet, with me being the only one there. I was glad of this, as I didn't really want to share a sauna/steam/turkish bath room with others as I can imagine this would not be so good sharing such an enclosed space-again with the current situation. The place was clean and I had a sauna, followed by what I thought was an unsteamed steam room-only for it to be full of steam 10 minutes later, as I woke to a lady calling me. Took me a few seconds to come to-I must had been relaxed. The Turkish Bath was really good and lasted about half an hour. I was then shown to a salt room, which is one reason why I like trying different Turkish Baths, rather than go to the same one. I had not experienced a salt room before and really enjoyed my 10/15 minutes in here, before taking a shower. I was then shown downstairs, to where there were several massage rooms. I had a full body massage which was decent and lasted a good hour. A point to note for the owners, is that it would be better if there was no chattering going on between staff, maybe a bit of soft music. Also, I was very disappointed that none of the staff, from the driver to the ladies who did the Turkish Bath and Massage did not wear masks. I was very surprised by this, especially when I was being massaged, the lady had a coughing fit, and had to leave the room a couple of times. Anyway, besides that, it was really good and I enjoyed my time there. I also had a lovely Cherry Tea before I left. We headed to Selcuk, where a different driver dropped me off at the Hamman there, as a meeting point for when I wanted to return to my hotel. I had a quick look around and it seems pretty much like the other one. Location wise, it's next to the Police Station in the Centre opposite the park. I then spent a fantastic day at the market and randomly ended up at Efes. I returned several hours later and it was no problem for them to return me to my hotel within 15/20 minutes. I once again enjoyed a tea, along with a satsuma freshly picked from their tree outside. Overall, I had an amazing day. As a Turkish Bath/Hamman, I would give it 4/5 stars, but I've given it 5, as the overall day and how accommodating they were with what I wanted to do for the day was brilliant.
