Almaty (Kazakh: Алматы облысы, Almatı oblısı, الماتى وبلىسى; Russian: Алматинская область) is a region of Kazakhstan. Its capital is Taldykorgan, which has a population of 123,000. Population of the region: 1,807,894 (2009 Census results); 1,557,269 (1999 Census results).

The mosque Zharkent was built in 1887-1892 for the public money collected by the first Guild merchant Uali Ahun Yuldashev. Its architecture, structure and decorations are the building of the Ili Neighborhood, constructed by the method of constructional art of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The construction and decoration of the mosque was led by the architect Hong Pique (Mukan).
