Railway inn

We were made to feel so welcome with our two large dogs, treats given and water offered. What we loved so much is how friendly the landlady and the customers were. Truly made us feel at home. The only negative is we only managed to go once on our holiday. If you want a down to earth friendly pub this is the one for you!

Krakatoa

Established in 1965, and Aberdeen's original live music bar. This beautifully equipped, state of the art, 200 capacity venue is conveniently located where the harbour meets the city centre, between Union Street and nearby Union Square (where parking only costs £1 between 6pm and 4am). The bar boasts an impressive range of booze and specialises in absinthe, cask ale, cask cider, rum, tiki, and world beers. Live music appears every Friday and Saturday from 9pm-11pm, on an elevated stage. This typically showcasing touring bands with support from local acts. The venue is equipped with a sizeable dance floor and late night DJs on Friday and Saturday from 11pm-3am. The music on offer is of the alternative persuasion with a mix of rock, metal, punk, disco, funk, soul, electronica, and hardcore on offer, all on the same night.

I come to this bar occasionally and really enjoy it every time. Wide variety of drinks to choose from at a reasonable price, friendly staff and great music. Might not be to everybody's tastes but would definitely recommend if you're a visitor to Aberdeen.

This is the 2nd time that we have stayed in this jewel of a hotel. The staff are fabulous, friendly and can't do enough for you. Special mentions to Dave, Jason & Sheila. The food is great, a lot of it sourced locally and far better than some of the city centre restaurants we have eaten in. There is a lovely harbour here and Portsoy & Banff are close by.looking forward to our next visit. along the coast worth a visit
