Reviewed By rubenwoodI don’t know who called this place a two star but it’s obviously someone who had never been to a 2* hotel, this place was one of the nicest we stayed in. We found the Annex Isai Ambalam by chance when first coming to Auroville during a long trip- the plan was to stay a couple of nights however The Great Lockdown of 2020 meant that we ended up staying over 30 and could not have been more pleased with our luck of finding ourselves in this excellent little spot during these times. The house is spacious for a guest house with a lovey airy kitchen-diner that has double door opening onto a large and lush rear garden. It has few rooms making it very easy in the communal kitchen, if we managed during the lockdown then in normal times it will never be a problem. We actually tried 3 of the rooms, moving around as we couldn’t decide which one we preferred and here you are spoilt for choice. There are the large plush downstairs rooms with en-suite, the cheaper first floor rooms which are quiet and gracious and finally the room with its own private terrace. This is where we ended up, its got corner windows making it one of the lightest rooms I’ve stayed in with well built mosquito nets meaning you can have all the sliding windows fully open at night letting in a breeze. The sound of the birds will be your alarm clock before heading downstairs for the simple but tasty breakfast. We’d like to thank Meera for her breakfasts and sweet vibe in the mornings, the two watchman for looking out for us day and night, to Amy, Suresh and Arun for looking after us and always being available over the very convenient house phone, and of course to Suryan for making us feel safe and at home during what could have been a stressful period. In brief, if this were Spinal Tap, I’d crank the stars up to 6! We’ll be back!

Budget Hotel in Villupuram
Reviewed By ishabagchi20Good place at budget price for my company travel. Non AC rooms are neat and tidy which are spacious. Located in the city centre of Villupuram. Staff are polite and courteous, front office staff are very good and helpful.

There are six comfortable guest rooms with well appointed bathrooms. All rooms are teak panelled for natural ambience. The relaxation area is a raised tatami platform with folded memory foam mattress sofas and many colorful cushions. The Chinese element is evident in the design. An outside corridor overlooks the inner courtyard with trees and shade over sinuous water channels where lotus is planted.

Reviewed By Vikash SWe stayed in this property along with 1 kid and my parents. First of all, the bedsheets was little moist and had some sort of smell. The staff were courteous to change and mentioned the smell in the room is also due to wood. The restaurant area has lot of mosquito. The food was good, but for the breakfast it took very long to serve, as they don't have buffet breakfast. The location is good and close to auro ville beach.

PATHETIC, FRAUD, UNHYGIENIC
Reviewed By KuldeepKachrooclicksFirst of all this is not a Hotel, it's a Appartment used as a hotel. We booked this so called hotel for 4 nights, but ended up staying only for one night. Rooms are too small yo accommodate a family. You'll get room will full of mosquitos and they don't have any mosquito Repellent to avoid that situation. Last but not least, DON'T HAVE BREAKFAST IN THIS APARTMENT.Very unhygienic food serving. They get food from outside and serve the parking lot with unwashed hands. Pls chk my pics. When manager of this hotel, Gopal saw me clicking pictures of thus breakfast, he got angry to see that he was getting exposed. I would recommend everyone who's reading this post not to choose this as your stay.

Short trip to Pondicherry and Mahabalipuram
Reviewed By AshBhat1811We visited this resort/homestay during the month of August. We were 2 families with 4 adults and 4 kids in total. The place is in a very calm location. It was easy to find the place as it's just off the highway. The rooms given to us were big with two double beds and two bathrooms. The problem started when I, who is allergic to housemates started getting sneezes uncontrollably...the room was clean but had lot o micro-dust. The second night I stayed there, I bought a mask from nearby medical shop and then only I could sleep without sneezing. Other problem was that the people who stayed here partied till late, making lot of noise. The kids couldn't sleep properly. I would say this is a good place if you do not have kids along with you and if you are not allergic to dust. The complimentary breakfast provided was good.
