Il Tigliolo is an old farmhouse of the nineteenth century recently restored, tastefully furnished and with all modern comforts. The farmhouse is placed in the heart of Val d'Orcia, and in a few minutes you can easily reach very beautiful resorts, famous for their artistic in heritage and their wine and cookery traditions such as Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and San Quirico d'Orcia. Other historic Tuscan towns are a bit far away: Firenze (100 Km), Siena (45 Km) and San Gimignano (70 Km). Moreover, the surrounding countryside offers the possibility to have a nice and healthy bath in the thermal baths of Bagni San Filippo and Bagno Vignoni, only 8 km away. It is the ideal place to pass a very relaxing holiday in contemplation of nature, with the advantage of tasting the most typical dishes of Tuscan cooking and its best wines. Il Tigliolo is formed by two different buildings one in front of the other and separated by a beautiful courtyard. It is composed of six apartments , each with its private entrance, kitchen corner and independent gas heating. The farmhouse, deep in the Tuscan countryside and surrounded by olive-groves and vineyards, offers a swimming-pool, a self-service laundry, a barbecue and a wide parking area.
Heaven on earth
Reviewed By 653emazThis was our second time at Il Tigliolo. We love everything about the place. It was perfect for our big family, we loved the pool, the hammock between the trees, the nature. All of it! It has true Tuscan atmosphere, we felt like in a movie :-) Paolo is a great host, he even brought us some local wine to enhance the Italian experience. The rooms were clean and tidy, the wifi was working really well, the bathrooms and the kitchen were equipped with everything we needed. We hope to come back soon!

Reviewed By CheekyLondonYou should be aware that there is a long narrow upward twisty wooded (mostly) single track road to get to this place but once you do it's a beautiful setting. What a sunset and 360 degree view! The welcome was efficient. The one bedroom apartment with an sofa bed in the lounge would have been fine for 2 adults and 2 kids but we were 4 adults so it was a little tricky to share a bathroom accessed by the bedroom. Perhaps other accommodations on site are not configured like this? Very relaxing with accommodation in ancient buildings scattered over the hill. A nice big (bit cold!) pool at the top of the hill. A good breakfast with variety. As it is so remote we decided to eat at the restaurant both nights of our stay (didn't fancy negotiating the hill in the dark!). The food was very nice on both occasions and pleasantly served by the two ladies. Good idea to bring provisions with you when you come, as the accommodation has a kitchen area (and bring loo roll too). We were disappointed that the Roman Bath wasn't open - this was advertised at the time of booking and was something that attracted us - but apparently it was too hot. If you want peace an serenity and to get away from it all - this is definitely the place for you.

Tuscan countryside hotel, vineyard and restaurant
Reviewed By 347oliveraMyself and my partner stayed for one night at Borgo Casa al Vento. We rented a car which is a must to access the hotel. We had a brilliant stay, our room was lovely and clean. It had a sweet table on the patio right outside our door. The garden, grounds and pool were beautiful. I would highly recommend the on-site restaurant. We had a delicious evening meal featuring traditional Tuscan dishes and a bottle of Chianti Classico wine from their vineyard, which we had tasted on our tour during the same afternoon. We booked the tour directly with the hotel before we arrived. All the staff, from the owners, reception, waiters, chefs and housekeepers were really friendly and welcoming. We felt well looked after. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Borgo Casa al Vento to anyone looking for a countryside escape (but still close to Siena) where they can relax with good food, wine and beautiful surroundings.

Rosaria was helpful when it came to our bookings and additional services we were interested in. Unfortunately, COVID caused us to cancel our trip, which resulted in Rosaria becoming non-responsive. We emailed her several times over the last few months to confirm the status of our refund with absolutely no response. We recognize that we are living through unprecedented times but a simple follow up and update would have been nice. We simply needed to find out about our refund. This is unfortunate because it will make me think twice if/when we decide to travel to Italy.

Reviewed By pc002710Fantastic food and wonderful host. We are all vegetarian and were catered for completely by the restaurant and chef. Excellent wine from the property and lovely olive oil too Been back several times and it never disappoints. The location is also lovely and easily accessible.

Reviewed By PadraigAmhlaoibhWe very much enjoyed our 4 night stay here. We were a party of 4 : 2 of us stayed in a 1 bed apartment while the others stayed in a standard room. Both rooms were nicely furnished and bathrooms were large and well appointed. Each room had a garden terrace. I reckon there are 12 or 15 rooms in total. Il Mulino ristorante is in the main mill building while a nice bar area is located in a separate small building just to the front. Breakfast, which is good and good value, is served in the bar and we ate here 3 mornings. We had dinner in the ristorante on 2 evenings - food was excellent and service was good. The adjoining pool complex is huge but impressive. Has an on site snack bar and staff are friendly. I only swam once - water was cooler than I would have liked. All in all, we had a great stay here and found it to be very good value for money. Location is excellent - we used it as a base to head North to Florence and Greve via the Chiantigiana, West to San Gimignano and South to Siena, Montalcino and Val d’Orcia. We would love to return.

Nice and quiet
Reviewed By djiwieI stayed here for a week with my boyfriend and we rented an apartment on the first floor. The place is nice, we'll maintained and quiet. The swimming pool is nice and it's easy to spend a day relaxing at the pool. You have to drive approximately 1.5 km from the main road through the hills on a dirt road, so it's not really feasible to take a walk to the nearby village of Radicofani. The owner only speaks Italian but is very friendly.

L'Olmo is a small hotel de Charme in the heart of Val d'Orcia. An ancient farmhouse from XVII century, placed on the top of a gentle hill overlooking one of the most beautiful Tuscany valley. L'Olmo has been renovated in its interior and exterior designs, furniture, wall colours, hydro systems, air-conditioning and strong Wi-Fi. Surrounded by a green garden rich of plants as roses, geraniums, olive and cypress trees, L'Olmo offers a heated pool (12x8mt) equipped with all necessary to sunbathe all day long enjoying the stunning view of the hills all around and little paradisespots where to sit for a light lunch or a snack by the pool. Hidden beside the pool you will find a romantic Pergola, where the shadow will recover you after a sunny day; tables and chairs arethere for breakfast or candle light dinners. A cosy courtyard with sofas and armchairs accompany you to the interior of the house. The Billiard room is the main common area of the whole house. A stoned fireplace surrounded by velvet sofas, a furnished library with books and antiques then the billiard room, with chessboard and the grand Cannon Carambola table. By the sofa area, you will find also a projector where to enjoy a good movie or sports events. Still on the ground floor is the dining room for breakfast in the morning and dinners at night. The dining room respects the country style of the house: light colours for tables and chairs fabrics, white linen for the tables. Three Suites are on the ground floor, each with private garden with roses and climber grapevine Pergola, sunbathe bed chairs and tables for room-served breakfasts. The other four Suites are on the first floor: two can be connected and become a large apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a common living room with sofa bed and fire-place. The grandestroomof the house is "Suite Olmo"composed by a double bedroom with bathroom, common living room with fireplace and a smaller bedroom with single bed and private bathroom. The most scenery room of the house is for sure the "Library Suite"; it was the original Granary room for the old farmhouse and offers a 180° view on the countryside with a spectacular bricked wall which illuminates the high ceiling room (4 mt). Each roomis equipped with satellite tvs, safes, air-conditioning/heating; beds are covered by romantic canopies, wear cotton satin linens and have comfortable mattress (most of them are Simmons, except two special sized) Bathrooms have bathtubs and grand shower stull with powerful shower heads. Equipped with professional hairdryer, courtesy service with an Argan line of soaps and cremes, soft terry towel and bathrobes; from most of the bathrooms you can enjoy the marvellous view that L'Olmo offers form every side. The location is central with the most beautiful cities of Tuscany renaissance and is the ideal place to enjoy the nature, the peace and beauty of the Val d'Orcia and, last but not least, thanks to the special colours and lights of the landscape, it is perfect for photography lovers.
A wonderful anniversary weekend in the hart of Tuscany

L’Olmo is a beautifully renovated 7 suite boutique hotel in the middle of the countryside in Val d’Orcia. It has a view on the rolling hills and the most beautiful medieval cities of the region. The rooms are all very large suites and each decorated differently and brethtaking views on the surrounding. We experienced both the Granaio and the Pienza suites. Service is great, it mixes the feeling of being a host in a private house and the professional care of a luxury hotel. This last point is not surprising when you discover that the owners had been the former owners of one of the top 5*!hotels in Capri!!! We will definitely be back.

Reviewed By Peter_SoerensenI have visited multiple agriturismos in Tuscany and elsewhere in Italy, and Il Greppo is definitely my favorite. The location is fantastic with a view of vineyards, olive groves, cypress alleys and rolling hills. The Parigi family that owns and runs the place is always friendly and helpful. And the kitchen is splendid. Authentic Tuscan food made from fresh raw materials - much of it grown on the farm - served with Il Greppo's own wine. See if you can persuade them to make Papa al Pomodoro or pici with duck ragú. It is out of this world.
