The Jolly Farmer

Delicious food, lush location, great ale, clean and comfortable room, friendly service

Reviewed By hannahmT5457LO

We stayed in the suite which was charming and clean and comfortable (appreciated the complementary sherry!). We had dinner in the pub - delicious burgers and spent the evening there. The service was friendly, the wine and beer good and the atmosphere great. It is located by the river Wey which you can reach through a delightful walk through the woods. It is a great spot for wild swimming. We will definitely be back. 100% recommend.

The Watermans Arms

Tony understands the needs of the working man

Reviewed By mauricelluffman

3 Welsh tree surgeons on a special mission in Surrey. In need of a base of operations, a comfortable command centre and maybe, just maybe, a lovely but of dinner as well. Premier Inn and Travelodge were never an option. We knew from day one we wanted somewhere real; unique. An independent business with character and heart. By this criteria Tony and the Waterman's Arms did not disappoint. We arrived on Sunday evening just in time for a superb roast beef dinner cooked by the man himself. Tony's hearty home cooking and generous portion sizes that night would set the tone for the rest of our meals, good food and plenty of it. The bar downstairs felt like a real locals pub, and as we dined Tony would regale us with information about the pub and the local village of Hersham. The rooms had just what we needed and we enjoyed very much Daniel Craig reprising his role as James Bond in Skyfall 007 on the flat screen TV in the room. We were mightily sorry to leave but the pain was somewhat tempered by our dreams of one day returning. Tony and the Waterman's was really the complete package. We were immersed in Hersham life and were welcomed by Tony and his customers. May we meet again someday.

St George's Lodge

St George's Lodge provides high quality motel-style accommodation in the grounds of Bisley Camp, the National Centre for all shooting sports in the UK. The Lodge was built to cater for sportsmen and sportswomen who stay overnight when using Bisley Camp's world famous sporting facilities. The Lodge is open to all and sits in an area known for its natural beauty and once the shooting stops at 4.30pm midweek and 5.30 pm in the summer is the ideal spot to walk, dog walking and watching the deer on the ranges. It is close to Wisley Gardens, Brookwod memorial cemetary, Thorpe Park and only 25 minutes to central London. St George's Lodge provides 13 large ensuite rooms, all of which include bath and/or shower, colour TV, fridge and tea / coffee making facilities. The three Superior rooms have large Sleigh beds, all the other standard doubles have two double beds. the remaining 3 rooms have three single beds. All rooms have full central heating, double glazing and a ceiling fan for the summer. Being motel-style accommodation there is ample free car parking directly outside the building and easy access from your vehicle. Residents can enjoy free Wi-Fi in the rooms. Lunch and dinner are available on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, carvery lunch on Sunday, plus a full cooked breakfast on Saturday and Sunday 7am-9am - all served from the bar and restaurant at the LMRA clubhouse which is just a five minute stroll from the Lodge. Breakfast is available at the Lord Roberts Centre, Cafe 1901, Wednesday to Friday from 8am, next door to the Lodge. Unfortunately breakfast is not available Monday and Tuesday on camp although there are supermarkets and local cafe's available in nearby Brookwood or Knaphill.

Very pleasant Stay

Reviewed By David K

The lodge is situation in Bisley camp, a very quiet and rural spot, though the sounds of the ranges start around 8.00am each day. Lovely walking out in the evening or early morning as the area is fascinating with a series of very old bungalow buildings more reminiscent of the Raj than modern day. The lodge itself is a low building consisting of a series of rooms. The double room consists of two double beds, TV, bathroom with bath and shower, plenty of hot water, and room to work. There is free wifi, not too bad when I was there but I suspect it may suffer if all rooms are in use and everyone is on it. One bonus is a fridge, not huge but big enough to keep breakfast items in and have a cuppa before work. Very comfortable beds and a delightful place to stay. The room was very clean, fresh towels each day and looked after. I didn't expect 4 star, but it did the job well and I would recommend to others. I didn't eat at any local cafe's so can't comment on those. Brookwood has small convenience stalls and takeaways, and there is a huge Sainsbury's close by as well. Disliked · As others have mentioned, the walls aren't that thick, so you can hear others in neighbouring rooms. Everyone seemed very respectful of this with no loud TV or voices, but if they could be soundproofed a bit more, that would be ideal, I was awoken by the alarm of someone in the neighbouring room,

RACING IS CANCELLED

Reviewed By Chris C

My wife and I had booked the hotel some time ago to allow us to attend the racing at Sandown Park; unfortunately this was cancelled due to inclement weather. We found this out at about 0730hrs when the Lodge called guests who they thought might be coming for the racing - the Jockey Club hadn't told us. This kind gesture saved us the expense and time of travelling for no reason. They also didn't charge us, for what amounts to a late cancellation. This kindness was very much appreciated.

Beautiful place!

Reviewed By oliviasays

Stayed here for one night with a colleague while working in the area. We were made very welcome by Fran and the apartment is just beautiful - very cosy and homely. Fran had kindly set up an extra bed for us. We’ve been travelling around quite a lot with our work and this is by far the nicest place we’ve stayed. :) Thank you so much Fran!

STAY OFF THE MOORS!!

Reviewed By markjF3226HN

The food was the only saving grace for this place. (Although a touch over priced). Very dated old chalets with a concerning loft hatch in every room. Heating was virtually non existent in the rooms, & they don't do breakfast. The fact there were lots of jokes between myself & other colleagues about the Texas chainsaw massacre & Bates Motel should tell you all you need to know.

hard to recommend

Reviewed By Dannyniu

hard to recommend because we didn't stay. They told us to cancel the booking because under25s are not permitted. A strange and age-ist policy. They also barrage you with several emails a week asking you to sign their terms/conditions and upload your passport to their system..it really makes things needlessly diffiucult - when one books an airport hotel, they are seeking convenience I strongly advice them to change their approach.
