Perfect Location!

Reviewed By GlobeTrotting796415

We selected the Duke William because it had been a stop for our traveling companions many years ago. It is a pub that has resided at that location since the 1600's and has 9 en-suite rooms. The location is perfect for walking to the main street of the town, Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral. The rooms were top drawer and the food very good. The staff was pleasant and responsive to our requests. The one concern we had was access to the WiFi amenity. Even though the staff responded to the concern, we were not certain the technical issue was fully addressed/corrected. We all were eventually able to access the system but the situation was frustrating. Overall, it was a very nice stay at a historically valuable property.

What a fantastic place. Lots of parking. Great outside grounds [very family / Dog friendly] Play areas really nice outside seating areas. Comfortable bed - nice bath and shower. Matt and Claire obviously run the pub and hotel in a way that the staff are like family (all went about and beyond) there was approximately 70 of us. Back of house staff / front of house staff all had a smile and friendly greeting. The Bar staff definitely earned their Christmas Bonus looking after us. Justyna, Mitch, James and Oliver were just a few of the staff too many to mention. Allie was amazing. Food good value - and cooked to perfection Music - live band Football on TV POOL TABLE was fun [Tommy taking on our best player at the end of the night] Dart board.. Really great place to stay

Very Disappointed.

Reviewed By Holly_amy28x

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here jubilee weekend to celebrate together. Our visit started off well. Easy check-in. Friendly staff. Great Central Location. The room itself was very spacious however was very disappointed with the bathroom. Edges off the floor and the bottom off the shower was covered in grime. The bathroom also smelt off sewerage. We ignored the bathroom faults and continued with our night away to find blood stains on our bedsheets. Gross !! The pub had closed and all staff had left the building so we wasn’t able to request fresh bedding. We arrived back at our room around 11:30pm to hear boom boom boom. There is a nightclub located next to the pub. The music vibrated the walls and was awfully loud. To top off the night there was a taxi rank across the road. This also caused a lot off noise. The nightclub closed at 4:00am. It was around 4:30 when we finally fell a sleep. Despite 12:00pm checkout we was knackered. We payed £90 for the night. I wouldn’t recommend staying here and I’d advise to book yourself a room at the premier inn instead.

Usually very good

Stayed here on previous occasions and it was perfect however this time not so. We had to ask for our bin to be emptied, more toilet rolls and towels which were then supplied on day 4, told that housekeeping should call every day but we only had one visit (day 6 of our 7 night stay) from them. Room was also very dusty, can only assume they have staff shortages as it's usually spotless

Booked a double given a twin & not as clean as before

Reviewed By davidhD6654ZN

Booked a double with walk in shower ( as mobility issues) But when we were shown to the room it was a twin. I showed the conformation of a double but was told they had been advised of a twin booking.I expected a king size bed as before, but was told no king size only double beds now. The staff member then offered to clip the two singles together and re make up the bed. The walk in shower is very slippery, a non slip mat was provided, but when you place this under the shower head the soap/ shower gel dispenser is behind you !!!. The hotel is showing signs of wear since we last visited in 2015. The overall cleaning needs to be improved as very dusty. (Public areas Reception Floor & lobby to car park). in Room.:- bathroom floors , inside wardrobe , table and lamp bases around TV. The staff do their best but appear to be stretched at times having to see to hotel guests and run the bar. Service and food was good but Lots of uncleared tables at Saturday Breakfast

Travelodge Northampton Wootton

Very noisy, bring earplugs and a sleep mask

Reviewed By nimjim

I'm in room 206 which has a beautiful view....of overflowing rubbish bins in the courtyard outside! There is what sounds like a refrigeration unit in the courtyard that is constantly very loud. I think the staff also use the courtyard for smoking breaks as I'm getting the occasional smell of cigarettes too. If you come here bring earplugs. As it's summer you'll need the windows open and you won't sleep due to the noise from the refrigeration unit in the courtyard. With the windows closed the noise is a lot quieter but you'll still hear it, and you'll also hear staff back and forth early in the day with trolleys and whatever else they are clattering about with. You might also want a sleep mask in this room (and presumably 205 too) as the courtyard has a light brighter than the sun that lights up the room, the blackout curtains don't stand a chance!! Room itself is a basic Travelodge offering. No bath but just a shower with decent pressure. It's a little tired but the carpet seems pretty new and looks like it has had a lick of paint recently. The room is clean and the bed is comfy, it's a shame I couldn't sleep due to the noise. Staff are pleasant enough. Reception isn't manned but you can hear them if they're in the back room. There isn't a buzzer to get their attention but there's a number to call so I used that rather than shout through. The entrance is shared with the Toby Carvery but they are independent of each other. I'm in the area for work and this hotel is convenient for the office, if I was booking again it would only be on the basis of getting a guarantee that I won't be in a room near the noisy courtyard. You will get road noise from the A45 that's just a stones throw away, but that combined with the refrigeration unit was just too much.

the room was like going back to the 1970s dont stay here...Especially room 8.

Reviewed By Norman T

the room looked like it had last been updated in the 1970s. woodchip wallpaper and real poor quality wardrobe, as for the bathroom well let me just say the plumbing hadn't been updated since original install by the looks of things. Grubby with broken wooden panel under sink. Door handle hanging off. There is cheap accommodation and bad accommodation, this is definitely BAD!. the restaurant and bar was the complete opposite, money has obviously been spent on this ,rather than the updating the rooms. Greene King Inns you need to spend money on this Hotel, updating it as its a disgrace This was the worst place i have ever been too. So bad i booked into the premier inn just down the road. For about £10 more i booked into a premier inn for the night because i wasn't prepared for me and my wife to stay here.

Nice place, Good price

Reviewed By Travel53616440

This hotel cost us £50 for one night (Saturday Evening). We didn’t have high hopes for the place with it being so cheap, but we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived at around 9:30pm to a friendly welcome from the receptionist and were quickly shown to our room on the first floor. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The only thing I will say is the beds are quite small but they were really comfortable. The bathroom had a walk in shower. The shower was ok, not the best. I had a great nights sleep. For £50 I was happy. Breakfast was an additional £7 per person and had to be pre ordered on check in. We all had the full English and it was delicious. There was bread, crumpets, yoghurts and cereals to help yourself to. The staff were so friendly at this Hotel. It was just the three of us for breakfast in the front room and it was lovely, felt really personal. We stayed here as we had the steam train driving experience booked in Loughborough. If I ever needed somewhere to stay again in Loughborough I wouldn’t hesitate to book.
