An hidden gem

Hidden in a small hamlet nested in the appennini of Modena, la canonical is located in. XV century church just facing monte cimone. Food is excellent, revisiting with inventive classical bolognese cuisine crew is amazing and very kind. For anybody having a spare day around Modena or bologna is definitely a must have!!

Relais Ginevra

From an old house of 1800, finely restored, was born the Relais Geneva. A structure in the heart of the Appeninno Modenese, at two steps from Zocca, country of Vasco Rossi and a few kilometers from the Regional Park of the Sassi di Roccamalatina. 2 suites from 45 square meters, 1 baby Suites and 3 rooms with bathroom, plus cellars and salt for the tasting of the typical products of the area

Beautiful interior, very friendly hosts

Reviewed By E M

Old style exterior, new bed and breakfast just outside the village of Zocca. The rooms in the building are very, very nice, breakfast was served in the family restaurant nextdoor, except on Mondays. That day the restaurant is closed and breakfast is served in the downstairs kitchen of the building that accommodates the guest rooms. That breakfast consisted of 'dolce' only, all very sweet, there was no bread or cheese/sausages. I have only a basic command of Italian, but our host had no command of English (his son does, but he had his day off that day). That was a problem, but fortunately another guest could interpret! Out host made sure we got lots of bread and cheese! The only thing that bothered us was the airconditioning. The cooling function did not work (yet?), the air was only circulated. With 27 degrees Celsius in the bedroom I did not sleep that well. Once that is fixed, five stars from me!

Bed & Breakfast Solo per Quattro

In a big house, in the green villane of Missano, 7 Km far from Zocca (Modena), not far from Parco Regionale dei Sassi in Roccamalatina, full of naturalistic paths, you can find two double rooms with its own bathroom each, comfortable and groomed in each detail. The rich breakfast is served in the wide kitchen. You can stay in the living-room whose windows give to the top of Appennino Modenese, among which you can see Monte Cimone, destination of skiers and mount hikers. In the same house where B & B Solo per Quattro is, just after few steps, you can find a grocer's where you can get the typical products of the Emilian delicatessen, in particular hams, salami and sausages and the famous Parmesan cheese.

Blissful Splendour

Reviewed By Nereo-Barca

My wife and I accompanied by two friends arrived mid afternoon from Venice after having disembarked from a 28 day transatlantic cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam from Fort Lauderdale. The B & B is located not far from the town of Zocca and in such a beautifully tranquil location that you had to pinch yourself to realise where you were. We were met by the owner Agostino who proceeded to show us to the accommodation; well it was simply beautiful; ** fabulous living area with open fire place & comfortable seating; ** a large kitchen dining area with all that one would need to prepare meals; ** a powder room / laundry on this level; ** a flight of stairs then led us to two beautiful bedrooms with ensuite. The B & B section whilst attached to the main building is private with its own entry. He had prepared for us on arrival, homemade cakes and biscuits and lit the open fire as the evenings in this region were still cool. Another great point is that Agostino with his parents run a local "deli" which is at street level and under the main house with all that one would need to prepare a wonderful meal. Agostino's father (Rolando if I recall) was gracious and kind enough to take me through the are that he has used for 30+ years to make prosciutto, salame, parmesan cheese etc; the smells were sensational !!! That night we had pre arranged to meet some friends at a restaurant just up the road called "il Cantacucco" although we had been several years before just wonderful, if you are in that area do yourself a favour and get to experience the magic of Roberto!! The following morning when we came down to the kitchen, a marvellous assortment of cold meats, jams, breads, cake, eggs, etc had amazingly appeared without a sound.....ghosts in the night!!!! It was such a sad time when we had to leave as we all felt that we were leaving family, however I know that God willing, we will return and not for just one night. It is just a shame that we would need 30 hours to get there from Australia! If you want 5 Stars in a big city then go to Rome or Milan, if you want peace, tranquillity and complete satisfaction then go to "Solo Per Quattro" PS The writer was not paid for this review and it is written in gratitude out of the sheer enjoyment experienced.

WHAT MORE IS THERE TO WISH FOR

Reviewed By DENIS P

A family owned and run hotel in a beautiful part of the country with stunning views from the balconied rooms. Spacious and very comfortable every care is taken to make guests feel very welcome and we certainly were. The restaurant is spacious and the food was a delight prepared fresh and of local origin. The wine list is not dominated by the typical tourist wines but graced with a good choice local wines with some options from further afield. The biggest advantage this hotel has however is the staff led so ably by example by Massimo Righetti. We were touring in a classic at the time of our visit and had a major electrical fault disabling the car immediately prior to our arrival. Massimo could not have done more to assist us even to the point of locating specialist and escorting us to and from the garage. A great example of excellent customer service and well worth supporting as a business. Summary - great hotel, lovely food and superb people, what more is there to wish for?

Me and my girlfriend drop by for a couple of days in Zocca and had the lucky of bounce into this lovely place: a cozy corner in the middle of the Modena's surrounding hills with an old medieval tower where to sleep inside and a stunning wiew terrace where have a taste of the delicious locally grown food and wine for a perfect brunch. (you can also have cooking lessons if you want) The atmosphere is rare and relaxed and the manors are very kind and well organized. I strongly recommend this lovely place!!!

Reviewed By Michele M
