The hotel is a bit old and has peculiar arrangement, not my taste anyway. The room was ok but again nothing special. So I was a bit disappointed with the hotel, but no major problems really

Food stick to the dimsum place third floor, quality is very good price is alright. Whatever you do avoid the Japanese it's terrible. Breakfast is a bit underwhelming for a Marriott hotel. In room dining foreign food you want to skip. Then the price, it's a bit of an only choice in this city so if you have to be here.. you end up paying for that. It's not really value for money.

Great Place for the price
Reviewed By avkitchelBrother-in-law made the reservations and glad he did. Didn't know this place existed, will stay again on the next visit Zhanjiang. Even though it was built in the 1950s and has been remodeled. Staff was friendly and room was clean and spacious. The grounds was extensive and nice for evening walks with three restaurants to chose from on the grounds.

My Usual Stay in Zhanjiang
Reviewed By RussellJW_10I've stayed at he Hafree International Hotel three times so far over the last three years and will be back again next month. The fit out and rooms are absolutely first rate - quite luxurious. The rooms are very spacious, clean and furnished in a combination "traditional" Chinese and Western style. The hotel is relatively new (about 5 years old) and is trying very hard to establish itself as an up-market international business hotel (as the name suggests). That said, you will probably find only a minority of front of house staff at any one time speak English to any degree and there are little things they are still sorting out. For instance, as of my last visit, there were still no irons and ironing boards in the rooms - you had to call reception and ask for them to be sent up. For some reason I have a lot of trouble communicating this in China and it took a few tries at Hafree before we got it right (they sent up someone to collect my laundry for dry cleaning, then I tried to explain that I just needed to quickly iron my own shirt before a meeting they sent up the board only - no iron! But we got there). Zhanjiang is typically a business destination and there is not a great deal of tourist stuff to do (with the exception of the Huguang Maar Lake about 45 min drive - a must see) but the hotel itself is beautifully appointed wih great gym, pool, spa, shops downstairs, restaurants, tennis courts and a fantastic sauna in the basement level of Block A. Definitely do yourself a favour and head down for a sauna in one of the private 'suites' - absolute luxury! The hotel is only a few minutes from the Conference Center and about 15 mins from the airport. There are some nice parks for walking and jogging within about 800 meters. Unlike one of the other reviewers I've never had trouble with noise at night although maybe because I've always stayed in Block A away from the KTV.

Located right in the city center of Zhanjiang City, within walking distance to the business center of the city and the International Exhibition Center. The Zhanjiang economic and technical development area is in the north of the hotel. Standing in the high-end consumer business district, the hotel has superior position and convenience transportation and is only 5 minutes way by car from the railway station or 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel is the first choice for the modern city people who pursuit high quality lifestyle.
Nice Hotel for Zhanjiang
Reviewed By robinchina2004The Zhongtailai Hotel in XiaoShan, Zhanjiang is a nice hotel situated in the YiFu Shopping Complex. It is handy to many shops restaurants and also the "Walking Street". The rooms are of good quality and breakfast is included in the price. Be prepared for the rather hard Chinese mattresses though :)

Residential Neighbourhood Business Hotel
Reviewed By GreatHopForwardI booked a Standard Double Room for one night via Trip.com. It automatically came with breakfast. The hotel is not as conveniently located as other hotels to most of Zhanjiang’s main attractions listed here in TripAdvisor. It is on a major road in a residential area. Nevertheless, I chose to stay in this hotel because it was within walking distance to the city’s two brewpubs -- Beer Garden and Sunsburg (now closed). I was efficiently checked into a room on the ninth floor. It was spacious and tastefully decorated in a manner one commonly sees in local business hotels. It was furnished with a queen bed, two chairs, desk, flatscreen television, air conditioner, minibar, shelving, and a closet with safe and hangers. I had indicated I preferred a non-smoking room. This room actually was one, as indicated by the absence of ashtrays and the non-smoking sign in the bathroom. Of course, that doesn’t ensure all guests will abide by this, but it does help to minimize getting a malodorous room. I found everything I used in the room -- bed lights, plumbing, minibar, air conditioner, USB port -- worked properly. The bed was firm, but not hard. I wasn’t disturbed in the middle of the night by street noise or that coming from neighbouring hotel guests. Sufficient linens of decent quality were provided. For those who may have required toiletries, basic, single-use items were available for free, as were other products for purchase (see bathroom & minibar photo). Two bottles of water were provided complimentary. In comparison to the other breakfasts automatically included with hotel bookings on this trip, I found the Ocean Hotel’s buffet quite generous. There were no Western food items, per se. However, there was a varied selection of glutinous rice desserts and pastries, including durian puffs, which I quite enjoyed. Hot items featured the standard congee and stir-fried vegetable dishes, as well as some meat and seafood items. A machine dispensed a selection of hot coffee and tofu milk. It wa unfortunate, though, that there wasn’t any local fruit besides watermelon. For those who find the Ocean International Hotel is in a suitable location and within their travel style and budget, I would recommend it as a hotel that I would happily stay at again in the same circumstances.
