We were very happy with our stay in Sette Querce....Rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast pastries were great. I would have loved to have some warm eggs for breakfast but besides that I cannot complain. We had a good balcony at our room and would definitely go again.

Great bed and breakfast service and great food

Reviewed By Navigate317818

We arrived in the evening around dinner time. The taxi dropped us at the hotel entrance but we couldn't find anyone around. We should have gone straight to the restaurant entrance. As this is a family-run enterprise, they were all busy in the restaurant. But Marco, who seemed to be in charge of everything, offered us drinks while he was busy waiting tables, and soon got us to our room. The room was very clean and comfortable albeit eclectic in decor, but we weren't there for House & Garden critique, so all was very satisfactory. Breakfast was a good spread of cold cuts and cooked eggs, unlimited coffee and tea. Dinner at the restaurant was an amazing taste of Tuscan flavours with their 10-month house cured ham, honey from their own apiary, local beer and Chianti. Unfortunately we didn't get to taste their acclaimed pizza, as we could only eat so much. Our entire stay there of three nights was more like a visit to an old family friend's home than a hotel/b&b. Service was attentive and very personal throughout. Location was perfect for us as it was only an 8 minute drive by taxi to the venue of the wedding we were attending at Castello di Fighine, although taxi fares . Marco offered to drive us to the train station instead of ordering a taxi, and he took us right to the platform and bade us goodbye like an old friend. The best stay we've had so far on all our travels over Europe. Highly recommended if you are looking for a real Tuscan experience.

Il Poggio

On a hill near the medieval town of Celle sul Rigo, between Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana, stands the Il Poggio Holiday Farm. The Farmhouse, the central building of the farm, offers a peerless view that spreads over Valle del Rigo, the Radicofani stronghold, Monte Amiata, Monte Cetona, up to Valle dell’Elvella which is bordered in perspective from the town of San Casciano dei Bagni. The Il Poggio buds from the join of two family farms grown up in the spirit of tradition. In 1987 it starts to be in business by doing the first refurbishments of the rural buildings.

Lovely location for a multi-day visit to Tuscany

Reviewed By Stefan C

My wife and I stayed here for five days while I was attending a business meeting at the hotel. It was an excellent base for day trips and evening meals in other towns in Tuscany. Celle sul Rigo is a tiny hilltop town like so many others in Tuscany. There's nothing there but the locals watching the sunset and going about their lives. It's nice for a morning or evening climb and stroll The hotel is comfortable, rather rustic, with a fine dining room and terrace for outdoor eating and sipping wine while admiring a fantastic view. The rooms are separate apartments, and there is a meeting room on site for business. The staff is very accommodating. The attraction is the access (by car) to the surrounding villages, all by way of winding, scenic, traffic-free (in October), roads through the hills and farms of Tuscany. It only a few minutes to the baths in San Casciano dei Bagni or the fortress at Radicofani, and an hour or less to Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza, and a smaller but very attractive town that is often overlooked in the guidebooks called Cetona. In all, we heartily recommend Il Poggio for a quiet stay in a beautiful place some off, but near to, the beaten path.

We stayed here as part of a wedding party taking place at close by finghi. The hotel is a well run establishment, rooms are very clean although slightly smaller than most with an average shower. The best part of the hotel has to be the restaurant, we had three lunches served to us on the veranda at the front of the hotel. Julio is one of the best and most knowledgable waiters we have ever had. He has a great understanding of the local area and particularly the Chianti wines. Julio is a great asset to the hotel.

Fantastic in every way

We booked this accommodation as we were attending a friends 1920’s 40th Birthday party nearby (photo of us attached). This B&B is beautiful in every way. I stayed here with my partner, my daughter and boyfriend plus 4 other friends - we took over the entire B&B for a week. It’s run by Lucca & Gerardo who are such fantastic hosts and will do anything to make you feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast is wonderful and Gerardo is a fantastic chef who makes all the cakes - yum. The property is only a 5 min walk into the stunning medieval town that has a great selection of restaurants and bars. All 4 bedrooms are lovely, each with various views overlooking either the Tuscan Hills, pool or town spires of San Casciano dei Bagni. If you needed to eat in the B&B Gerardo will provide supper costing €25 per person which includes 3 courses and wine (was delicious thank you) All rooms are spotless and all rooms have hair dryers free toiletries etc. The pool was lovely with ample sun loungers and we must not forget to mention Herio the Collie dog who keeps you entertained. Would I stay here again - absolutely. If your looking for somewhere to stay in Tuscany that’s near great places to visit then this is it. Thanks guys for making our stay so lovely. We will be back again soon. Keith

Tuscany summer 2021

Reviewed By siliat2016

Villa Vetricia in Tuscany was probably one of the best experiences we have had of renting villas all over Europe. We were 3 families, 6 grown-ups and 7 children aged 2-14 and we had a wonderful 3 week vacation at the villa. First of all the environment is perfect as advertised: A beautiful old farmhouse, renovated with all modern amenities – excellent bathrooms, showers, and bidets; air conditioning in all the rooms (however, electricity for A/C charged separately), very comfortable beds, most of them extra-large by European standards, beautiful old furnishings but practical and useful. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking utensils, dishes, flatware, large refrigerator, dish washer and of course a large dining room with a table that seated 13 easily. The swimming pool was also fantastic – clear water, large, many pool toys and accessories available, pool furniture including many armchairs – a real joy to escape the heat in hot days. Many other amenities: table tennis, outside gazebo with full dining table, outside grill and barbeque, and more. Our only remark was that the 2 TV sets in the lounges could have been a bigger… The villa itself is arranged with groupings of 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms so that families can have an “area” to themselves and yet join the whole group for meals, evenings, etc. What made the stay so special was our host Patrizia and her chef and assistant Francesco. She really made the difference making this experience so unique. She lives next door and always available for any request or problem. Every request was met with a smile and the team made all attempts to satisfy all our requests. During our stay we had an incident where one of our group fell and wounded her head, she was taken care by Francesco who eventually called an ambulance, was taken to the hospital, stitched, and returned after a few hours. Wonderful care, as good as can be expected. We ordered a few dinners cooked by Francesco – highly recommended, excellent food, Italian delicacies both local and national – to say nothing of the calorie-full desserts. Our only complaint was that there was too much food at these meals. Needless to say, the children got special dishes, always with a smile and an effort to please. In summary, this villa warrants 6 stars – not 5 and we are sure that anyone who chooses it will not regret it and enjoy every minute.

The Epitome of Tuscan Beauty

Picture perfect week in Tuscany! Marco and Luisa’s villa is everything the website claims it to be and much much more, in fact the pictures don’t do it justice. The hosts, Marco and Luisa, are as charming, kind, and professional as you’ll find anywhere in the world. The location is situated just outside the small Tuscan village of Celle Sul Rigo (1km/.6mi-ish) and within walking distance for most. It does have a steep hill to climb, but that goes with the territory. The village is quaint and what you would hope for in a small Italian village. The village has the basic necessities but don’t expect to find a Walmart like selection. There are two restaurants in the immediate area: Di Luna and Le Pace. Le Pace is small and can probably only accommodate groups of 8 or less. Di Luna was able to serve our family of 15 with ease. We dined in and ordered take away, both experiences were top notch. The interior and exterior of the villa is beautifully maintained, it’s clear that Marco and Luisa spend a considerable amount of time and effort in providing an authentic experience. Even with 15 people at the Villa there were plenty of beautiful nooks to relax and take in the beauty of Tuscany. The views of the valley from this Villa are as good as you’ll find in the region. The Villa has everything you need for a week or a month from laundry facilities to a fully functional kitchen. If cooking isn’t your thing, Luisa offers the option to come and cook your family breakfast during your stay for a small fee. The grounds of the villa are exquisit, with flowers at every turn. The pool is absolutely gorgeous and almost large enough to swim laps. Our family of 15 had an experience of a lifetime. I wish I could provide some small areas for improvement, but Marco and Luisa have taken all the steps to create a picture perfect Tuscan experience.
