These are the three main standards which I apply to judge a Hotel. The San Giorgio Palace Hotel meets all Three. The location is ideal to explore Ragusa Ibla. The service impeccable. Erik and Mattia went out of their way to be helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The San Giorgio Palace is the hotel to stay when visiting this part of Sicily.

OUTSTANDING STAY

Reviewed By Adam91

We spent 4 nights at the Relais Antica Badia and used it as a base to explore Ragusa, Noto, Scicli, Marzamemi, Modica, and even managed to fit in a winery visit thanks to the wonderful staff at the front desk. (All day trips are highly recommended.) The room (Room 205) was amazing with a lovely balcony overlooking the Cattedrale di San Giovanni Battista. The bed, bathroom, and finishings were terrific - the nicest hotel on our travels so far. Breakfast was BIG and excellent quality - too big so we wanted to save room for other meals and had coffee at Caffè Italia instead, a lovely place across the road. We had aperitivo and dinner at the adjoining restaurant, Ciano, which is not to be missed! It was the best meal we had in Sicily so far (we're serious foodies). Definitely Michelin quality inventive food where every dish Is gorgeous, packed with flavour and very inventive. Every dish is like opening a present. And how often do you leave the restaurant having made friends with the head chef, sommelier and wait staff! Awesome! Parking on site worked well for us, but there's also a lot around the corner. Honestly, this visit was a real treat and we highly recommend staying here.

You can do much better

Reviewed By Maurizia-Ramzi

Not what you expect from a 4 star. Need to add a tip if you want your room properly cleaned, including bathroom, all equipment obsolete and you get extra charges even to have your beach towel changed during your stay (had to negotiate not to) or a bottle of water in your room. Breakfast selection is limited and doesn’t feature local products. And the staff comes forward with a solution only after you display your disappointment (one day we had no water on our bathroom, I suggested we could use another room only to be told that there were no rooms available when the hotel was obviously empty. When we noted that this kind of treatment was unacceptable, the available room materialized out of the blue)

Extraordinary

I found this by accident on line and it looked like the best hotel in the area of Ragusa, Modica, and I'm sure it is. Very stylish here means attention to detail and quality, every effect carefully chosen for its luxurious simplicity of design. Very artful and at the same time very comfortable. Wide and firm beds, sumptuous linens, stunning breakfast with so much for the eye to enjoy and the pallet to salvor, typical offerings that remind you first thing in the morning that you are in a jewel of a little city in southern Sicily, and though you may not want to leave this perfect hotel for a moment you have all the joys of Sicily at the doorstep.

What a complete disaster and disappointment!!! We were a group of 8 and never ever again will any of us return here!!!!!

Reviewed By Cyana111

A disaster. €300 for 2 nights & our rooms were never cleaned, the pigeons on the roof don’t let you sleep at night, pool dirty, broken sun beds, no food, not even a packet of crisps at lunch time but when we complained they brought us old fried food from the day before & a bad plate of pasta which they charged us €50 for! The barman doesn’t speak a word of English, no ice at the bar, tried serving me half a bottle of beer & doesn’t even know how to make a decent coffee - he literally got every single order wrong. They apologised & tried giving us a 15% discount on another stay but none of us will ever come back here. A real shame as you don’t expect bad coffee & no food especially from the Sicilians.

Itria Palace

From Ragusa to Ibla, going down the Corso Mazzini Street, you will arrive in Piazza della Repubblica. Some steps trough the left of this square, you will see a red building in the Corso Don Minzoni street. It is a palace of the fourth century built on the ancient wall of the DiQuattro Palace. The upper floor hosts the hotel with forniture, pavements, exquisite lighting fixture in Murano glass, Bohemian Crystal and Capodimonte porcelains of the XIX century; there are different rooms that offer a pleasant and calm atmosphere with their old and thick stone walls and the S.Leonardo river that flows close to the garden.

Overlooking the river gorge between Ragusa and Ragusa Ibla, this hotel works wonderfully well. Air and light room. Bathroom a bit tight but functional. Good Wi-fi and friendly, proficient staff. Breakfast room a long way down, but well spaced tables under arched ceiling and a nicely set up buffet makes a pleasant start to the day. Only drawback is distance (uphill) from Piazza Duomo and hub of town activity; an invigorating walk of ten minutes or so.
