Best lodge in Marloth Park

Our stay at LA Kruger was amazing from the second we met our driver at the airport all the way to the last minute. The whole staff was professional and dedicated to making our stay a memorable one. Dinners are very tasty, and the rooms are very spacious. I am very grateful to Jacques Delport and his team for facilitating so many excursions, and for the high professionalism they displayed throughout this pandemic, which was hard on everyone. The swimming pools were a nice fresh spot after hot day excursions, but the best part about LA Kruger is definitely the huge terrace on the canpy: watching the sun rise from tree top level was magical! There was only one negative thing: having to leave such a magical place. Not sure we will be able to come back to South Africa soon, but if we do, we will definitely return to LA Kruger!

Great facility and view for the money

Reviewed By shrike_75

This resort did not disappoint. On our arrival at the gated and secured entry we were provided with keys and a map to our building. The resort is a sprawling facility of house style accommodations. Ours was a duplex style house so we had one side and the other was for someone else (who we could not hear at all). Our domicile had a small living room, dining room, kitchen area that included a stovetop, refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was large and the bedroom had a huge window with a great view. We were there in May and it was cold, however, the bedroom was equipped with a heating unit. A semi short walk from our building and we were at a spectacular lookout position of the Blyde River Canyon. It was breath taking. There were also hiking trails (and a swimming pool and miniature golf) but were there for only one night and did not explore those options. The restaurant was on the other side of the facility and it was very dark as we drove there. It was spacious and had a nice feel (and probably a nice view if it wasnt pitch black outside) but the food was simply average. The buffet may have been better but we ordered of the menu. Also, if you are coming from a city, you may be used to a faster pace. Where were were, things were slow including table service. As we only had wifi at the restaurant, we drove there again in the morning and were treated to seeing about 20 baboons in the area around the restaurant. There was apparently fruit in some of the trees and they were also having breakfast. Note: Do NOT feed the animals. It may seem cute or fun but they will become aggressive if it looks like you have something they want. Also be sure your cars is locked and the windows are up. There is a gas station, small shop and an ATM where you turn to drive toward the resort.

Always Exceptional

Reviewed By Carietjie

I have written a review before about Walkerson and every time we visit they do not disappoint. Service is always exceptional, food excellent, staff that go the extra mile. We visited today for lunch and spa for our 8th Wedding Anniversary. This year was a little different as we now have a 7 month old baby to consider as well. Walkerson was the perfect venue for this Anniversary lunch and Spa spoils for mom. I just want to give a special shout out to Nelly who took our baby and kept him happy for 10min so that mom and dad could enjoy their anniversary meal together. We so appreciate it and like I said exceptional staff that always go the extra mile. Thanks again. We will definitely be back soon with a smile on our face as always when we visit Walkerson.

Poor Experience

Reviewed By Thomas R

The service is absolutely the worst . All employees look demotivated and not interested in their jobs . The hostess at the dinner buffet who was to allocate us the table seemed almost irritated that we had turned up for dinner . The servers behind the dishes were equally disinterested and gave us the feeling that we needed to finish our food and leave quickly as they had better things to do. When we entered, we gave our names to the security who relayed the information to the Front Office. In most hotels , the front office team would be awaiting our arrival, but no one was there and we had to take our luggage to the reception & belatedly a man appears asking if he can help with the luggage. We paid ZAR 4K and arranged a game Drive through Marriot who in turn outsourced it to another local operator. Another poor experience, the guide was not knowledgeable & just drove around for a few hours in the kruger without much explanation or story telling.
