Great 5 night stay in Milazzo

Reviewed By MDuVall-Rubin

We stayed at this hotel in May of 2022 for 5 nights. We found Milazzo to be a much more interesting city than the guide books might say. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for us to try the beaches, but we had some amazing meals and we really enjoyed our stay at La Bussola hotel. Especially, Simona at the front desk. She went out of her way to be as welcoming and helpful as possible. Also, I had emailed the hotel prior to our arrival and requested an electric tea kettle in the room and it was there when we arrived. Service was excellent at this property.

Great location and price. Our room was very quiet but second room facing the street was a bit noisy. Breakfast was limited to a few items and auto expresso maker. Good value for the price. Would stay again.

Excellent location for a quiet stay on the beach, great value for money

Reviewed By Marassa

This no-frills hotel turned out a sort of a hidden gem for us - even though it's not luxury by any standard (which is reflected in a more than reasonable price), it is well kept and brilliantly located just minutes walk from the town but on a rather secluded stretch of the coast with a small private beach we almost had to ourselves with next to no other guests in the end of September. Large and easy to access parking lot. Fantastic sea view from the room. Decent breakfast right by the sea. I guess they could have have thrown in some more amenities like slippers, a couple of chairs on the balcony, a choice of something hot for breakfast, a bar open later in the season but that would certainly raise the price. For the price we paid we couldn't seriously expect more and we were very happy with what we got.

Very highly recommended!

Everything about this B&B was simply perfect. It's in a very convenient location, the lady who runs it is extremely warm and friendly, my room was clean, modern and well-equipped (including a small fridge), and it was clearly evident that the building has recently been completely renovated from top to bottom. Everything is in an excellent condition. The windows of my room were completely sound-proof so I got absolutely no noise from the street below. The breakfast terrace on the top floor gives you a fabulous view of the harbour and there is a coffee machine up here so that you can help yourself to coffee whenever you want. (At the time of my visit, for covid reasons, no breakfast buffet was served but a snack was left in my room each day as a little substitute.) Although the initial self-check-in felt a tiny bit anonymous and impersonal, it worked well and it soon became clear that this B&B was an excellent choice.

Spotlessly clean

I stayed here overnight on my way from the airport to the Aeolian Islands as part of an organised group trip. My room was spotlessly clean, there was a hairdryer, fridge, wifi, air conditioning and lots of hot water from the shower. It was also quiet. The breakfast in the morning was also good. We were able to walk from here to the port in the morning (about 10 minutes).

Agriturismo Il Gelsomino Ritrovato

Relaxing host, good breakfast, excellent value for money

Reviewed By Eleanor C

Craving a hotel with a pool back on mainland Sicily (after a week on Stromboli with no pool) before flying home, I booked this place at the last minute and it was just what I needed. While "agriturismo" can encompass a whole range of accommodation styles, this is a friendly B&B, attached to a campsite, rather than a designer chic country house boutique hotel (a la Masseria Susafa). The Gelsomino Ritrovato would suit families looking for a relaxed budget-friendly holiday, better than couples looking for a romantic getaway where they could be pampered in luxury. The accommodation was basic but comfortable enough. I was in the yellow room which has a double bed, bunkbeds, desk, reasonable amounts of storage for clothes and a fridge, and an ensuite shower room. The room had aircon. I had no problem picking up wifi in my room (to check for flight updates). Negatives about the room: slightly bizarre that in the bathroom, the shelf for the shower gel was over 6 foot above ground, as was the bracket to support the shower head (on a flexible hose). Odd where the bathroom had hand rails where they were clearly trying to make it more accessible to those with limited mobility. Sound insulation between the 2 rooms in the building could be better (I could hear a tap dripping next door). Alessandro is a very welcoming host. Although I had to check out of the room at 10.30 am, he said I could stay and use the swimming pool all day, use the campsite shower afterwards, and borrow a towel if needed. I had a lovely relaxing day by the pool, which was a perfect temperature, though would benefit from more frequent dead bug skimming. Breakfast was also above average for Italy (much as I love Italy, I just can't face the whole cakes and tarts at 8 am thing!) I had delicious fried eggs with cheese (bacon was also on offer) and bread, as well as a fresh croissant, juice (the usual carton rather than fresh blood orange), toasts and jam and better-than-average-for-an-Italian-hotel-breakfast coffee. The swordfish I had at dinner was very nicely cooked, after a ginormous bowl of seafood pasta which I couldn't finish, washed down with the house white (a very generous jugful, though it would have been better chilled). Dinner was finished with a shot of limoncello as I watched the sun go down from the outdoor dining area. Complimentary transport to and from either Milazzo station or port was also very welcome. Although the accommodation was basic, I thought it very good value for money. I paid 75 Euros via Booking.com for dinner (with very generous quantity of wine, and a shot of limoncello afterwards), bed and breakfast.

Petit Hotel

The small Petit Hotel is a building located in Milazzo, in front of the harbour where is possible to get boats and hydrofoils departing to the Eolian Islands. Placed close to the main monuments, the Petit Hotel is made up of a two floor building with a bar furnished to the sell of goods subject to monopoly at the ground floor, and a comfortable terrace that faces the harbour. All the rooms have air-conditioned and are provided with mattresses in natural latex, furniture in solid wood, tv LED 32", digital Italian and foreign channels, minibar furnished with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, sweet and salty snack, free wii fii connection, courtesy set in the toilet, hairdryer, shower. Each accommodation has a balcony or windows that face the harbour or a quiet inner courtyard, and is decorated with original paintings from a local artist. All the hotel interiors are decorated with hand-worked tiles coming from the famous Santo Stefano di Camastra. The inner stair that from the hall leads to the upper floor recalls exactly in its style and colour the famous staircase of Piazza Armerina. The Hotel owns a closed garage for its guests, and reservation is needed. For all those guests who will need a luggage safekeeping, we will keep them for free for all the time needed. For breakfast the Hotel will offer a wide buffet made with typical Sicilian goods, fresh fruit, cereals and yogurt without forgetting the classic continental breakfast with sweet and salty goods.

A good space to regroup on the way to the nearby islands

Reviewed By mastermuzz

Found by accident! What a find! We needed parking for three nights near the port while island hopping and a bed as we missed the last island ferry. Within 30 minutes our car was safely off the street and we were drinking cocktails on the roof deck overlooking the harbour. Very helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms and a great dinner recommendation thrown in. I could not fault this venue.
