Too expensive for what you get

Pros:position close to beach and cable car, both up to 50 mt. See view Staff were nice, and willing to help Water pressure Cons: Hotel strongly needs refurbishment, walls are dirty, furniture is very old, the bathroom is small and ugly. The balcony is dirty, you don t have where to hang your towells. Tv have only few chanels and it s so small. Breakfast is basic, you hardly have to chose something, nothing changed in 5 days. It s a modest 2 stars hotel. Too expensive for what you get, i paid 120 eur/night.

What a super nice hotel this was!

Reviewed By B9790AQjulienm

Hello there all, In the summer i visited this hotel with my girlfriend. This hotel is truly a sweet one! When we got there it looked nice and clean. Very well maintained. When we were checking in to get a room, we were being helped by very kind people. We got a room on the third floor with a view at the garden. The room was nice. It had aircondioning, bathtub/shower, television and a nice 2 person bed. The view on the garden was also nice, with lots of crickets. So lovely. I was very happy and satisfied with the room. It looked good, had a nice view and it was clean. My gf however really wanted a room with sea view, and conviced me to ask for a room with sea view. So we went back to the receptionist ladies to ask them. In the back of my head i kind of expected them just to say: nope sorry! But when we asked they were actually trying really hard to find a room for us! So nice of them. After they did some talking and stuff they said to follow to another room. Well it was a big surprise for me! We got a room with a very nice sea view. We had a big balcony too with 2 chairs and a nice table. Super romantic it was! Everything looked super tight and clean. Also it was a bright room. So we were super happy and ready for our vacation. We booked with brekky in the morning so we could have some nice food in our tummy to start the day. The breakfast was from 7:30 to 10:00. The restaurant in the hotel looked really good! Also the personnel was so fast! And the food! Oh my god the food was so good. They had 3 different foodstyles, which was a very pleasent experience for the tummy. Everything was fresh, from fruit to meat, everything was good! The servants were kind and helpfull. Especially Allessandro, he was the best with his super positive vibes! For information to what to do and where to go, we went to the reception, and the people would help us kindly. They give good tips too. To make it short everyone was very helpfull. The hotel is in a pretty good position. It is 200 meters away from the gondeler ( that skilift type thing) that will bring you up the mountain where the city centre is. It will only take 2 mins. Also the hotel is very close to the beach. The entrance of the hotel is wheelchair friendly. They have an elevator and everything is very wide. The swimmimg pool was very nice too. Altough i never swam in it, it looked very inviting to me. I read some reviews about this hotel, but i cannot understand that some of them are so negative. The hotel is a very charming place that gives you a real nice italian experience on your vacation. On the last day we had to leave very early at 5 in the morning and guess who was waiting for us to say goodbye. Yes it was Allessandro!!! He also even gave us a small foodback with yogurt and bread, ham and cheese and stuff for on the way. He came an hour before his starting time to.say goodbye. This man is the kindest of all! He really had a good heart! I had a great time on my vacation. If you are looking for a sweet place to stay. This is it!! Go here. You will have a good time.

Great location, super-friendly landlady

Reviewed By Niels_Wergin

Our room had a little balcony overlooking one of the most beautiful bays of Sicily, the breakfast was good (in the hotel next door), and the landlady was super friendly and helpful. She even brought a teddy bear she had given the kids, but which we had forgotten, to our next hotel.

Beautiful apartment with breathtaking view

Reviewed By Trip14544819145

The apartment is very beautiful and offers a breathtaking view! It is very tastefully decorated and well equipped. It‘s spacious and has a lot of room for storage. Valerie, the innerhalb was very helpful and when we arrived, the fridge was filled with anything you can imagine: from Prosecco, to fruit, milk and the kitchen offered anything you need for breakfast. The location is perfect to go to the beach as well as to the village (by funicular or by foot) and we can highly recommend la Matrangala for families; certainly one of our top holiday locations! !

Avoid at all costs!!!!

Reviewed By Mariposa1910

Visited this place few years back but still have the bitter taste of the experience in memory...we were doing a Sicilian tour by car and decided to stop in Taormina ,we were looking for a hotel near the sea front when we drove past the villa zagara which had a great location... (the only positive point) that's the only reason am giving 1 star....all the rest was a complete joke!! Everything was just wrong, no service in room, no wifi, rooms dusty and very old style with noisy air con.. no privacy what so ever(we caught the lady owner in our room just minutes after leaving for the beach for no reason as our room was not even cleaned..it was just to have a little nosy...) were told price included breakfast and then the old lady charged us for awful coffee and disgusting pastries...save your money and go somewhere else or these creepy family will ruin your holiday...
