Le Bouchon is a grade II listed, 300 year old Georgian building which has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme restoring the building to its former glory. Reviewed By TracySidWe booked this hotel & restaurant as it’s halfway between Kent & Suffolk, so was a good location to celebrate belated birthdays. Although I had made a bit of a mess with the bookings, the lovely receptionist got us all in the right rooms for the right price. From stepping into the foyer to leaving the hotel, every member of staff made the whole weekend a thoroughly enjoy time. We loved the little touches- chocolate on pillow, coffee machine, sumptuous mattress & bed linen, gorgeous smelling toiletries. The food in restaurant was superb as was our attentive waiter. In the morning, we had a very jolly waitress who served our perfectly cooked breakfasts. For a lovely stroll , go down to the canal and head east towards heybridge basin. It takes about 30 minutes & at the end , reward yourself with either a drink from the tea room or a drink from one of the two pubs there.

A fabulous choice of hotel
Reviewed By Janet LWe booked most of this hotel with family and friends as my son and his fiancée were having their wedding close by. The staff were all the most friendly and helpful people and made our stay a very pleasant experience. The attached Italian family restaurant was superb, the chefs certainly knew their business. Various different areas of seating available, under cover or open air. The rooms were very comfortable and clean with all the little extra items in the bathroom you could possibly need. The venue was a few steps from the High Street so very convenient for travellers. A truly wonderful weekend was had by all. The only downside was the local taxi firm but that was totally unrelated to The Limes. Thanks to you all!

Reviewed By Spurs1964Nice bar area. First time here, not overly busy at the time we entered. Staff are professional and friendly. Food was good, burgers are homemade . Had the pulled pork burger . Cooked well and very filing, friend had the vegetarian halloumi burger also cooked well. Prices are good for the food quality.

Lovely stay
Reviewed By kayjuddLove this place! It is in a quaint setting, with lovely cobbled outside seating. It is right by the church and just off the high street. We had a suite which was very tastefully decorated and furnished in a manner that suited the history of the building. Our large bathroom was obviously recently refurbished and include a free standing roll top bath. The building is very old with beams, wood panelling, old paintings, a suit of armour and uneven floors, which we loved. It is not refurbished all over but we felt that added to the charm of the place. The staff have several roles to attend to but were always helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a nice full English of good portion size. This is not our first stay in Maldon, but my first at the Blue Boar. We are likely to come again as the town has lots to offer, and this will now be our first choice when booking somewhere to stay.

Holiday from hell steeple bay dump

Arrived and van was dirty waited until 6.30pm given keys once it had been cleaned The van was not gold plus rubbish outdide filthy broken front door cooker faulty mould, previous holiday makers excrement in bathroom. Bedroom door locked you inside. Dirty tissues and rubbish under cushions. Requested full refund on the Wednesday promised mamager would contact..he never did. Promised a refund would be given on the thursday when we checked out. No refund given. Staff not trained and blatently lied . Contacted head office again they never received the refund request shop also no stock and is an area in reception. Do not book to go to this park. We also had confirmation from members of staff that this was not a gold plus caravan which we paid extra for. Holiday from hell for someone who is terminally ill as well Do not book to stay here only 65 vans are fir holiday makers no entertainment and bar closed doors at 10.30 .

Scammers DO NOT BOOK
Reviewed By philcB7900LDNot visited yet. Had booked 3 nights in August 22 via Booking.com for £210. After booking i received a text from a man named Lance Middleton (or that is what he told me it was) purporting to be the owner. He had all of my booking information, he stated his reason for contact was to arrange the refundable £100 damage security deposit. Not an unusual request, which i paid to his account. A day later Booking.com cancelled the trip and refunded my £210. When i contacted them they told me the holiday let owners were under investigation but would not go into detail. I have tried many times to contact this Lance on the number he used and have emailed Warren Lodges on their own site. No response…. Conned out of £100 avoid avoid avoid.

Grotty room, nice food
Reviewed By Jogger223The room was reached through the pubs kitchen and thence through an unpleasantly smelly corridor. The room itself was clean but tiny, with barely room to walk around the bed. The bathroom was in need of attention with a loose loo seat and damaged base to the shower. The room was not cleaned during the day, bed not made nor dirty cups cleared. The meal from the pub was good but that seems to be a different business.
