A squalid mess - worst property visited in over 5 yrs !!!
Reviewed By Gadfly_13Am still here for one night with my parents who r aged 77 n 70 ...n a chauffeur who is about 60 ...myself 42 ...this was chosen as a logical night halt location between Dooars n Kolkata ...this showed up on d highway ...some reviews were good ...hence ... Let me try n sum up my experience in the following points: 1. Location: very conveniently located on d NH outside Malda. Perfect for a night sleepover. 2. Booking: Called the owner yesterday from our last half - Gajoldoba - to ask the price. He mentioned 2000 for Deluxe n 3000 for suite. Booking.com gave me 1467 for the suite - am sure another 15% plus goes to them. Don't really know what the owner tried to accomplish by quoting this price - either it will scare people away or make more updated ones check the online price !!! Either way he lost money. 3. Checking in: reception was empty - the gentleman came after a while after being summoned. Initially very curt opened up to a nice human being later - an overworked caretaker for a dysfunctional property. 4. Amenities: what a mess !!! Rooms were once designed well but if u look at them now u feel so sorry. Barely a couple of lights on in d room, rest taken out, nothing in the room shows even tiny bits of maintenance. From cupboard doors with broken hinges to cracked bathtub with broken hand showers to balcony door linings falling off - list is endless. I first thought of clicking but later decided against it cause then I will have to upload 70 odd pics. This place is as dirty as u can imagine. This is easily d worst maintained property I have visited in d last 5-10 years. Cost cutting shows - no electric kettle, tea bags etc, one soap only as a reminder of toiletries that r customary, not one channel in the TV, no cover for any of the room lights (no lights also for all points except two), one glass, not one tissue or toilet roll, paint falling off most of the places, only 4 staff including one for reception who stays hidden rest of the time, 3 from kitchen who also do part time hotel job n one cleaning lady etc. It's understandable if the owner is in distress - but to try to sell these rooms for 3000 is criminal !!! Right price is 800 for the kind of squalor one is expected to live with. 5. Food: lunch was good - Chinese cuisine was decent and other food was also acceptable - overall met expectations we had for the place. Prices r ok and not exorbitant. 6. Staff: mixed bag there - mostly found them helpful once we have broken d ice. We were refused room service but later on they agreed. Not much else could be sorted. 7. Others: they have an FL off counter n hence tipplers will feel right at home - without any ice cubes or cold mixers !!! I have spent best part of the evening having my JD without ice or cold water - something I have done after ages. Overall, I would recommend this property to none (n i repeat - NO ONE) excepting those who want to have food on d way. This is equally unfit for every category of traveler i know - just a squalid mess with no sense of service. Avoid this property !!!

Decent place on the highway for a short stay
Reviewed By Deepabali SWe spent just a few hours in this hotel, under very strange circumstances. Our flight to Delhi from Bagdogra was cancelled, so we hired a car and travelled to Kolkata by car. We reached here middle of the night, dead tired, we got to know about the hotel from Tripadvisor only. The hotel is right on the highway, just before Malda and looks pretty huge and impressive. The staff was very courteous, specially the young girl at the reception, and also those who carried our luggage middle of the night with a smile. The rooms are decent with comfortable beds and modern bathroom. There is tea-coffee maker with even marie biscuits! One problem we faced is of mosquitoes, horrible amounts of them, owing to a waterbody within the complex. That was the only dampner in the otherwise decent stay int he hotel. We checked out before breakfast, so wouldn't be able to comment on the food.

Reviewed By S2019DasNice services. Friendly behavior of staffs. Good location to avail both train and bus. But no resturent in this hotel. Food is delivered after getting order from outside. Price is reasonable and value for money obviously.

Decent budget and contemporary hotel in Malda
Reviewed By DARJEELINGDREAMI stayed here fir one night on 7th December. First of all I was looking fir a hotel with 24 hours check out facility. This is the only hotel which offers 24 hours check out. I managed to get a single small AC room for Rs. 1190 plus tax. The rooms were all booked as Bengal CM was visiting. I found the room clean with all facilities like power sockets , LCD tv , tea coffee maker , clean and comfortable bed, split AC, and a nice clean and decent washroom. I am impressed to see the quality of food and the pricing is just about right . Many of the hotels I see the food price being high - guests go out and eat . Well, the complimentary breakfast was adequate. I would love it if they add a fresh fruit juice. I guess most of the sales and marketing people loves this place. If you want a room below Rs 2000 - try this place .

Reviewed By Roshni SThe Silver Arcade Hotels exceeded my expectations of a hotel in a crowded town of Malda. The entrance is uninspiring , and so also the surroundings, but once you enter , you feel comfortable and safe. The rooms are well maintained and clean. Free snacks and water are provided and the restaurant serves decent food at reasonable rates. The service is good too.

Location of Hotel is very much popular & well known form Malda town station within 10 minutes. All stuffs are very much well mannered. Indoor environment is always silent & peaceful. Room conditions are good & food quality is excellent. Over all you must be satisfied with standard affordable price. Thank you.

Avoid this hotel - it is appalling!
Reviewed By Peter SI've stayed in some pretty poor hotels in India, but the Hotel Gitanjali is one of the worst I've encountered - not the worst, but one of them. First, it's on the third floor of a shopping centre in the middle of Malda, so it's very noisy, inside and out. The 'food court' upstairs is just a room which serves a range of basic dishes - nothing fancy, OK - but it took me an hour to discover that they not only didn't have a teapot, but could not even make a cup of tea. A sign at Reception reads 'Check out 8 am' - but a notice in the room says 'Breakfast 8.30-10.00' - I couldn't even get a piece of toast at 8. On the other hand, the hot water was if anything too hot and the wifi worked, once I got the secret code from the management. But this is not a desirable location in any sense, and if you have any other option I would advise you to take it. But it's a 'poor' rating because even within its class of Indian hotels it is not well run, efficient or considerate of guests' needs - eg breakfast.
