By far the best safari lodge I’ve ever been to! If you’re looking for a place where the staff is going the extra mile then head to Rhulani! The friendly, professional staff, makes you feel at home from the first minute on you set foot there. Always great food, even freshly baked muffins at 6am before the safari starts! The lodges with heated privat pools are warmly decorated with lots of great taste! 3 days with Alistair on safari were packed with professional insight about African animal life… we learned so much and we were blown away of what we saw EVERY day!!! He‘s fun approach to animals and humans alike are gonna be memories we‘ll never forget. We laught so much, thanks Alistair… We‘ll def. be back soon… Warmly, Fam. Adcock

On a rugged dolomite ridge overlooking a vast African wilderness, you will find a hidden treasure called Impodimo. Taken from the Tswana words Mpho Dimo, Impodimo means a gift from God, and is truly a slice of heaven on earth. Rise in the morning to an African dawn and enjoy an early morning game drive with your dedicated professional ranger. Relax as your ranger guides you through the bush on a custom made open Land Rover, searching out the Big 5 or the smaller secrets of nature. Set out on a foot safari with your armed ranger and learn the secrets of tracking African game or just enjoy the trees, birds and stunning scenery. Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool or the sala overlooking the waterhole where game may come to quench their thirst. In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out again on a sundowner safari, where you will stop to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise and enjoy your favourite sundowner drink. Once the sun has set and darkness descends, set off again for a night safari where the more nocturnal creatures now rule the bush. Return to the lodge where you will be treated to the finest Pan-African cuisine with your hosts in the open air boma, and share your days adventures, while you enjoy a night cap around the fire. Impodimo Game Lodge is set along a rocky ridge commanding stunning vistas of the reserve. It is also located at the source of a natural spring, which provides the lodge with elevated views as well as riverine serenity. The lodge offers dawn and dusk safaris. The safaris are carefully timed to ensure optimal seasonal comfort. Whilst Impodimo has 10 suites, its capacity is 16 guests. Each of the suites have been carefully positioned to ensure absolute privacy. Spacious in design, each includes a closed system fireplace, climate control air conditioner, mini bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and full en-suite bathroom and outside shower. Your private deck allows uninterrupted views of the Madikwe Game Reserve.
We've been on safari several times in South Africa but Impodimo and Madikwe topped them all. This review will never do it justice - it was heaven from start to (very sad) finish. I did A LOT research of pretty much every 'luxury' and 'ultra lux' lodge in Madikwe. Impodimo represented great value for incredible luxury. Also one of only a couple of lodges that's unfenced and provides trackers as well as guides in the park which is a bonus. The staff were so warm and couldn't have done more for us, from the wonderful Lyne during booking to the best guide we've ever had, (Sneaky) Ruben, so knowledgeable and friendly. The room and lodge were spectacular, we saw so much game over 4 days/nights and all of the many meals/snack times (including the wonderful surprise bush braii) were absolutely delicious. I'm allergic to gluten and for everything my husband could eat they'd made a gf free version (mini doughnuts, waffles, lemon tart, all the cakes). Best place I've stayed for gluten free. Madikwe (and it'll always be Impodimo) over Kruger/Sabi Sands from now on, and I never thought I'd say that. We cannot wait to return!

We had an awesome time staying here and made lifetime memories here with the game viewing experiences with the help of our guide and tracker Wayne and Charlie. Lions, wild dogs, African buffalo, zebra, cheetah, leopards, hyena and more, all tracked by the extremely knowledgeable Madikwe team. The food was also delicious and we were continually full throughout and extremely satisfied. This is an authentic safari lodge which may require some updates in the future but worked well for our experience. Thank you Madikwe team for an awesome trip!

I had a booking with Madikwe River Lodge for overseas clients. Due to Covid they have to cancel trip and with all other things in SA they are not interested to come to SA any more. But now I struggle for more than a year to get the deposit back. The GM just answer emails when she wants and there are always excuses. Wonder if someone knows who is owner that I can get in contact with them

We have just returned from our first stay at Buffalo Ridge, knowing that it will be the first of many (for as long as the finances allow). We have loved Madikwe ever since our first visit 11 years ago. With our regular lodge not yet open we decided on Buffalo Ridge, in part because we wanted to experience an as yet unvisited part of the Reserve. We are very pleased that we did. Great location with extensive view, spacious lodges, extremely experienced guides, and a group of people determined that your stay will be both memorable and enjoyable. The lodge is owned by a local community, with everyone working there coming from the same village. This means they have known each other for all of their lives, and they work as part of a large family, always with smiles on their faces, and doing whatever they can to ensure that you have a great time. They succeeded! Around the lodge we saw elephants feeding just by the main deck, while klipspringers rested on the steps leading up to the vehicles for the game drives. On the game drives we had great close-up sightings of cheetah, elephants, lions, and so many other creatures. This was very much down to Godfrey who looked after us so well. With his great knowledge, many years of experience, and great people skills, you couldn’t ask for more in your guide. We thoroughly recommend Buffalo Ridge to anyone wanting a top-end experience without having to pay top-end prices.

The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Cradled between rolling hills, overlooking game-filled plains intersected by the Marico River and framed by the Dwarsberg Hills, just 20 suites are clustered in three intimate camps. With circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite, and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools, and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate, while large pizza ovens add a fun twist to meal times.
The Madikwe Safari Lodge is fantastic. We stayed (two couples) at the Dithaba lodge (adults only) in late May 2022, and we had the lodge practically to ourselves. The food, the lodging, the staff, and the safari experience was exceptional in every way. All the safari guides communicated with each other so that guests would have the opportunity to view all the different animals. Early morning drives (then a wonderful breakfast), time to relax/take a nap/enjoy a spa in the middle of the day, and then a late afternoon/evening drive to see more animals, followed by a 5-star dinner. (And, because of the time of the year, a fire in our room by the bed every evening!) I simply cannot recommend this lodge/safari experience highly enough.
