Really noisy hotel
Reviewed By alexviajarelmundoA really noisy and old hotel (very old windows, not soundproof at all). Went to sleep at 4 but awoken by alarm sound in the corridor at 7am. They then give me a room facing the street, which is so noisy that is impossible for me fall asleep. Overall a really terrible experience. Got no sleep for a room that i intend to sleep in!

Our Go To Hotel For When Basing In Kunming
Reviewed By eric sHaving enjoyed the experience of staying at this hotel four days last December, we decided to bring the parents and stay for an entire week this year. The service was incredibly thoughtful and attentive day in and day out--little things like delivering us free take away bottles of juice and pastries when they knew we were going hiking for the day. Being that this hotel is located on the western perimeter of Kunming, I can understand why some guests who want a central location may not prefer its location. But for us, we wanted proximity to the lake (and the Xishan / Western Hills scenic area) and easy access to the highway for day trips (Stone Forest, Fuxian Lake, etc.). After all, central Kunming isn't all that amazing and urban traffic is a drag, but lakeside has several spots from feeding the migratory birds to the aforementioned Xishan to wetlands and south to the Dounan Flower market. We found the rooms very comfortable and honestly had most of what we needed. Each night, we slept soundly.

Worth every penny
Reviewed By joya63Value wise my 19 days stay at Crowne Plaza is worth every penny I paid for. We were given a decent sized resort feel - hotel room with a beautiful view of the lake and the Colorful Yunnan Park. Our package includes buffet breakfast for 2 and four nights a week buffet dinners and 3 nights ala carte dinners for 2 as well . Free wifi and free fruit trays weekly and 3 free laundry everyday. Location. The hotel is located a bit far from the Kunming City Center. That’s how we like it, less traffic and quiet but accessible to all means of transportation. It is a stone throw to the Dian Wharf and the Colorful Yunnan Park. It is also accessible to all the Tourist Attractions. Cleanliness. The hotel’s facade is antique and old but inside it is quite modern, very clean and simple. I noticed that after every big event during the National Holiday, they clean up even if it takes them till dawn to dismantle their outdoor setup. I see cleaning ladies roaming around during the big event too, Cleaning after guests at the garden and at the dining area. Toilets in the lobby and even in our room is kept fresh-smelling and clean too. Service. The hotel staff are mostly Locals but there are a few who can manage a good conversation in English. They go out of their way to help and address all my concerns be it transporation, shopping, billing, food ordering, hotel seating and the like. For Hotel Packages and other administrative concerns, and other personal concerns Big Boss Carol is 100% reliable. Other staff like Boss Catherine, Boss Johnny, Boss Nina and Ms Joe gets my thumbs up too. They offer their geniune service and nothing less. Plus points for me for this hotel is their generous food buffet which includes variety meat and variety of seafood. I love seafoods. I love the boiled crabs and the crawfish( just guessing the name ???) Their grilling crews are the best. They grill the best squid and mushrooms.

I read the amazing reviews for the Sofitel before booking a room, and my experience at Sofitel Kunming justified the great reviews. Frankly, the reviews and pictures of the hotel don't do justice to what a great hotel this is and the service level. At every level of staff, they were going above and beyond the call of duty. Very polite, positive and helpful (just making you feel great), aside from attending to our needs in the room or help from the concierge, they go out of their way to make my stay feel special. plus they got me a high floor city view room, the urban landscape was amazing throughout the day. Here I have to mention the front desk, Mia, who was so friendly and helpful towards me and my friend from check-in to check out answered our questions and explained the restaurant and hotel activities hours. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends who want to visit Kunming.

Memorable hot spring with different temperature available which is suitable for different requirement of guests. Outdoor and indoor swimming pool which is remarkable for a hotel. Buffet breakfast was acceptable. Housekeeping staff are great and very attention to detail. Doorman are very attentive and helpful. In general, the hotel/resort are awesome on layout and architecture. Comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Reviewed By blang6416Wanda Vista is a truly beautiful hotel. The lobby is breathtaking and the decor is really nice. Some reviewers have noted that they think the decor needs to be updated. I have to disagree. The decor is modern Chinese decor and befitting of the destination! My father and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had executive room, executive lounge access and enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning during our stay. The executive lounge is one of the best we have ever been to, with more than ample food options and a huge array of beverages. The view on the 22nd floor (the executive lounge) is also spectacular at night. The buffet breakfast is lovely and had items that my father and I like to eat in the morning. The breakfast does cater more to the hotel’s Chinese customers but we were happy with our options. On the first night we smelt smoke in our room despite booking a non-smoking room. We told one of the staff members, Jack Chai, in the morning. He was extremely accomodating and offered to change our room and even offered to upgrade our room when we feared the next room would smell similarly. We refused the offer of the suite and waited until the checkout time of that day to inspect a similar room to ours. The room wasn’t an executive room but we were much happier as it didn’t have any smell of smoke. From then on in our stay at Wanda Vista was wonderful! On our last night I needed to see a doctor and the staff were incredibly helpful and obliging despite the significant language barrier. We cannot thank Caroline He enough for her efforts to help us. She was kind and patient and came to our room with an English speaking doctor on her personal phone. We were shocked when she refused the small tip we offered to thank her for everything... She is a special employee and we hope the company rewards her for her efforts. The staff at Wanda Vista are fabulous! The company should be extremely proud of them all, particularly Jack Chai and Caroline He. Jack was so friendly and helpful and made our stay at Wanda Vista great!

Old tired smelly Hotel
Reviewed By MashgiachArrived had no help with my luggage. Staff don’t speak English. The common areas are grimy and old. Room was dark. Bed uncomfortable. Shower a major disaster no pressure at all. The view from the room is rooftops and old dilapidated buildings. The room had a bad smell like i was sleeping in the kitchen. Garlic and spices and frying. Very noisy during the night. Staying here was a mistake. They charged for the room like a high standard hotel. Stay away.

Reviewed By Ailton007Lovely hotel with comfortable and clean rooms, great breakfast and there's a little square nearby with plenty of food options (e.g. Fuerst Carl, authentic German brewery food). Walking distance also to pagodas, a nice old shopping / food street incl. a fortress etc. Easy to get a Didi from hotel as well. From here, we took the train to Dali as our next stop in Yunnan.
