Kettering Park Hotel & Spa

A perfect location to explore the great houses and gardens of Northamptonshire, with a pair of boxing hares at the entrance to greet you as a nod to more than a little English eccentricity. Inside you’ll find huge fireplaces with roaring log fires in the winter, and in the warmer months soak up the sun on the sheltered al fresco terrace and pretty garden. Celebrate the Best of British with a traditional afternoon tea or tuck into a Sunday roast carved at your table with all the trimmings in the AA rosette restaurant. The spa has a fabulous 13m pool, treatment rooms, gym and activity studio. Part of The House of Daniel Thwaites collection.

Really enjoyable stay

Reviewed By greggP9977UA

We stayed here for one night for our 3 year wedding anniversary just as a little getaway. We had our 18 month old daughter with us and had a really nice break. The spa is particularly nice - it has a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi and is a very relaxing environment. Breakfast was fantastic and this hotel is also near to a number of restaurants. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and Wicksteed Park is not too far which has plenty to offer for a great day out!

Had a decent value for money meal at the Brewers Fayer at the side of the hotel Won’t be having breakfast but it looked very nice. Beds comfy but pillows too hard. Duvet of good quality & comfy Bathroom spotless Hairdryer included 2 tea bags 2 coffee but would of liked more

Holiday Inn Express Kettering, an IHG Hotel

Not bad but some simple things would have made it better

Reviewed By Gaildorfblues

With the hotel’s large, free of charge outdoor car park we had no difficulty getting parked. Checking in was quick & reasonably friendly with info given on checking out time (11:00), breakfast times (06:30-10:00) & Wi-Fi. With one room key card in hand, I did not need to use either of the two lifts as my room was on the ground floor, room 004. My room key card was needed to activate the electricity in my room & to access the hotel’s entrance door if returning after 02:00. My room was ok, not massive but still more than adequate. With a carpet floor there were plenty of facilities with a double bed, wall mounted reading lights, sofa bed, wall mounted tv, work desk & chair, clothes rail, long mirror, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, plenty of electrical sockets, smoke alarm, kettle, teabags, coffee sachets & milk. The aircon was very good but unfortunately, also very, very noisy when on medium & full fan. All room lights could be turned on or off from switches beside the bed. A large window gave plenty of natural light & there were no noise issues even though my room looked out to the car park. The bathroom was on the small side but very clean with a toilet in its own cubicle, tiled floor & walls, shower enclosure with an easy to control shower valve, shower head & hose on a riser rail, very good water pressure, plenty of hot water, large mirror, wall vent, dual voltage shaving socket & handwash, shampoo & bodywash in wall mounted dispensers. Even though I was the sole occupant, I had two hand towels, two bath towels & a floor towel. Breakfast was nothing special, fairly average fayre served buffet style with cereals, porridge, yoghurts, toast, bread cobs, pain au chocolats, croissants, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans, whole apples, bananas & mandarins, Nutella, marmite, jams, marmalade, teas, coffees, apple & orange juice drinks. No cheese, sliced cold meats, boiled eggs or fried eggs, mushrooms & black pudding with the fry. The Wi-Fi was over an open network with no password required but it dropped every time that I connected to it. It got so frustrating that I ended up just using my data & forgetting about the Wi-Fi. There were complimentary Sunday Times newspapers in the foyer in the morning. There were two electric vehicle charging points located close to the main entrance.

He was serving as a reporter for Morning Chronicle to cover Northamptonshire elections. Built in Jacobean style, the red-brick Royal Hotel Kettering is tastefully and impeccably ornamented by stone dressings and a Dutch gabled, Welsh slated roof at the back of meticulously-designed cornice and parapet. The semi-circle bow windows also add to the intricacy and delicacy of the design. So, while you’re staying in Royal Hotel Kettering, you get to enjoy an authentic touch of history and marvel at the awe-inspiring architecture. It was grand

Reviewed By Seaside790280

This hotel was fine, I had read some really bad reviews but it suited our needs. The decor is a bit outdated..I don't care, I do not aspire to be an interior designer anytime soon. The bedroom was clean and the bed linen was crisp and clean. The bathroom was absolutely spotless and even though it had an old fashioned non electric shower the pressure was surprisingly good. The wifi is pretty bad but that is not the fault of the hotel I would imagine. You will not be given an opportunity to check in even five minutes earlier than the allocated time, the first staff member we encountered would barely even say hello to us, we met a nicer man upon check in. There is no restaurant on premises as it closed during Covid but we were informed that they hope to reopen it. If you are looking for budget accommodation then this place is perfect, central to everything and has all the basic requirements. They do charge a refundable deposit which I am not sure if that was mentioned at time of booking, possibly it was and I missed it. It was returned to me pretty quickly, I think within a few days of check out. If you want a room in a central location with a clean bed and a clean bathroom then go for it.

Great welcome for my dog & lovely nature reserve nearby!

Reviewed By suewY9157HS

The problem with finding a little gem is that you are hesitant to tell everyone else but this one is way too good not to..... on my recent visit to see an elderly family member received a warm welcome for my dog and myself from lovely host Beverley who is the farmer's wife; this is a busy working farm and they were lambing and calving when I visited. There is the amazing "Titchmarsh" 75ha nature reserve within easy walking distance just down the lane. Dogs are welcome at the accommodation and my dog had a wonderful time at the reserve (note: "dogs on leads" stipulated). My room was cosy & warm and as it was a cold snap when I visited I was certainly glad of the cooked breakfast! Lots to see in the local area; the farm is situated in a lovely Northamptonshire-stone village and there is lots to see in the local area. Refreshing to see so many footpaths too for ramblers and dog-walkers alike. Easy access from major roads and easy to find! Highly recommend. Was really sorry to have to make my way home after staying here. If I ever find myself needing to go to this part of the country again I will certainly be making my way here!!

Double booked

Reviewed By louisebE3043AW

I made a 2 night booking directly with this hotel in February, they confirmed my booking. When I arrived I was told that there was no room available, they had taken a booking from booking.com that apparently took priority over mine. I have travelled from Spain and was not offered any help in finding alternative accommodation, just a half hearted apology. Poor/ non existent customer service. Not the correct way to treat customers, will not be bothering them again.

Bait and Switch

Reviewed By nickybF9518ZF

Booked to stay when attending a friends wedding. Contacted at 9pm on day of check in to say I had to change accommodation. I had been in contact earlier that week checking exact times I could check in so they were fully aware of my booking. I was moved to a dirty, grotty and uncomfortable alternative accommodation. Decided to give explanation or refund for bait and switch. Advise to avoid at all costs
