Arriving by train from Astana, a $3 taxi ride brought us 5 km to this new hotel surrounded by the 2011 Hockey, Tennis, and Boxing School, of which this hotel is attached. The English speaking receptionist quickly checked us in and provided our key card, directing us to the carpeted hall and our #112. The large modern room had a single duvet queen with desk and chair, TV above (CNN, BBC, Euro News), refer below, large closet, and fully outfitted bathroom. The 7 AM buffet breakfast included choices from an Apple I Pad Menu where we chose Rice/Semolina Porridge and Fried Eggs/Omelet. served in a formal lounge-type setting. We walked to the new KFC 400 meters south (across the huge flagpole) and the Korzina Supermarket 700 meters to the east. Receptionist provided taxis for ~$3 rides to Independence Square, Zoo Park, then the Central Mosque. For us, this first class hotel is quiet, in the center of the new city, and offers good value at ~$52/night.

Reviewed By larsb868Metelica is a relatively new hotel, close to one of the main roads through the city. Located in an inner yard, the sound from the traffic is almost zero. My room was rather tiny, with one big bed, a table and a chair, and important; a fridge to keep the water bottle cold (a new bottle every day). The style reminds me of Britain, with thick curtains, soft carpets on the floor and the heavy furniture. The hotel offers free wi-fi in all rooms. The bathroom has standard european equipment, and the shower gives plenty of water (but with somewhat fluctuating temperature). The reception offers 24 hour service and can help you with getting a taxi and such problem-solving. The reception handles the english language. Price tag is modest. My single-bed room did cost approx 35€ per night, but there are several different types of rooms. The hotel restaurant offers some pre-defined breakfast dishes of a decent quality. Nothing fancy, just a meal to get you started. The restaurant also has a dinner service with different dishes, and I recommend the grilled salmon or the grilled pepper beef combined with fried potato (really good taste). The price tag for a good dinner equals approx 10-15€. The staff has problems with the english language, but somehow things works out fine (but the service time can bee slightly long). The standard of the restaurant and the food is OK, but if you want to impress a customer with a fine dinner, I would recommend a restaurant more used to international customers. I can recommend this hotel for business stay! BTW: The gardening by the hotel entrance is very nice!

Reviewed By jlrmar2The place is very clean, the personal is really nice and helpful (they helped me with my arriving to the place) and it is full of stuff for cooking, cleaning and other home stuff. The location is a little bit apart from the center, it can be a problem in winter time, but using a taxi or public transport is not a problem. In general I recommend for everyone who visit Karaganda.

Минусы: дешевый интерьер, серые полотенца.В ванной зубная щетка, тюбик неизвестного содержания с китайскими надписями. То ли шампунь, то ли гель -неизвестно. Мизерный кусочек мыла.Всё! Тапочек нет. В номере резкий запах дешевой мебели. Завтрак обычный. Карточки не принимают. На ресепшн сказали им невыгодно. Мнение клиентов не учитывается. Расположен далеко от центра -неудобно добираться -пробки утром и вечером. Вывод:за такую цену можно найти гораздо лучший вариант.

Nice, inexpensive, very good location
Reviewed By SergejD8Generally good stay but some things might be improved. No night light (historical building) the only light you have is on the ceilings and the switch is besides the entry door. Floor under the bed was not cleaned but as soon as I reported it to receptionist it was fixed immediatelly. Good choice of the tasty food for the breakfast but no natural coffee, only you can hope is the instant one. I did not find anywhere at their webpage any info about check in and check out time. Arrived at 1 o'clock in the midnight. In the middle of my last night I was surpriced by the call from reception if I am ready to check out right now or I will pay for an extra overnight. My question why this info is not presented at the webpage simply left unanswered. Despite of this critical thinks the stay generally was more good than bad. Comfortable bed, quiet area, good restaurant, good public transport - small city buses runs very often.

The Hotel Zumrat is the right choice for visitors who are searching for a combination of charm, peace and quiet, and a convenient position from which to explore Karaganda. It is a small, comfortable hotel, situated on the boundary of the central part of the city. The Zumrat family offers an attentive, personalized service and is always available to provide any help to guests. The hotel is arranged on three floors, without a lift. On the first floor, apart from the reception, there is a comfortable restaurant where you can eat and drink. There is also a splendid terrace, where, you can relax and immerge yourself from morning onwards in the atmosphere of Kazakh daily life, watching the city travelling about and people gathering together and filling the alleyways and little squares with their chatter. The rooms are arranged on the second and third floors. On the ground floor, there is also a delightful sauna with the pure swimming pool available for the use of guests, from where you can enjoy your free time and relax. The free buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant on the first floor, and also outside on our little patio during the summer months. The hotel provides an internet point, and a Wi-Fi service. Hotel Zumrat - for people with an excelent taste!

Reviewed By JefitoWe have stayed to the hotel for a night! pros: -the staff was very friendly and polite despite of the fact that did not speak English at all -room was spacious and clean cons: -poor breakfast -Internet did not work properly in the room only in the lobby of the hotel -the hotel is not located centrally (the area looked to be very isolated) -bathroom needs renovation and the light is not adequate at all - the bed was small and you could turned round with difficulty I would not recommend this hotel for more than one night
