Beautiful hotel but improvement needed

Reviewed By ShazH27

We stayed at this beautiful hotel as a family of 6 and we stayed in one of the villas. The villa was spacious and beautiful and view to the beach was lovely. We had a few issues with service and this is an obvious area for improvement. We gave our feedback to the management and were compensated for the issues which we appreciated. I hope they improve their service for the next visit!

Ripped off

Reasonably nice (but not luxury) hotel with a decent location, but very much let down by the management. We booked a room for a two night stay, the hotel subsequently notified us that we would need to re-book as there was some kind of error however all the details would entirely unchanged, we just need to click a link to re-confirm the booking. We spoke to staff on the phone as well and they re-assured us that everything would be the same so we (naively) re-confirmed. Upon arrival at the hotel, it became clear that when the hotel wanted us re-confirm our booking, they had quietly increased the price by EUR 200, a price increase of c. 33% with absolutely no justification provided. When we raised this with staff, they became aggressive and started speaking to us in a patronising tone explaining that it was our problem as we didn't check properly, not acknowledging that they had in fact explicitly convinced us over email and phone that nothing at all had changed about the booking. The customer service was absolutely abysmal and not at all what you would expect when staying at a hotel in this price range. Putting aside the booking/price drama, this would be a 3* hotel at best in any case. When we arrived, no one offered to help us with our bags despite there being a large flight of stairs down from the road to the hotel entrance. Hotel room was reasonably spacious and clean, however decor was slightly dated and shower temperature control could do with some work. Nice views of the bay from the balcony. Given the size of the hotel, a large number of the rooms have doors opening into the reception itself so it is quite noisy, especially for light sleepers. Breakfast relatively basic with limited choice, average quality food and no fresh juices, overall ok but definitely far below what you would expect for a supposedly luxury hotel. The "spa" was largely non-functioning, with the hot tub not being turned on due to Covid-19 (although the outdoor hot tub is apparently fine to use, not very consistent) and no lights in the steam room so it is pitch black. Reception is not manned 24/7, not a major problem but worth being aware. Sun-beds on beach non-adjustable so you are forced to lie basically horizontal the whole time. Hotel allows children - again, not necessarily an issue but definitely pays to be aware as it was very noisy throughout the day and less of a relaxing get-away for couples as it appeared online. Regarding staff, I would like to clarify that there was a woman at reception (unfortunately we didn't catch her name) who was always very friendly and helpful, so thank you to her! Be careful when booking this hotel and make sure to double check your booking terms, especially if they ask you to re-confirm!

Beautiful hotel in amazing location

Reviewed By SueFD

Lots of positives - the hotel is extremely pretty, wonderfully maintained and in an amazing location. The breakfasts were fabulous, although to eat outside in the restaurant area by the sea one had to pay a surcharge which seemed a bit mean given the room rates. Superior rooms have a gorgeous view and lovely balcony and are very nicely decorated. The room and the bathroom are quite small though and the bathroom only had mood lighting. Area by the sea is really wonderful. Staff very sweet and housekeeping very attentive. Just a bit too far from Kotor Old Town to be absolutely ideal and bike hire (and absolutely terrifying night time local driving on small lane to hotel!) too pricey (Euro 15 per bike) to do every evening just to go for dinner. A real shame as the old town is amazing and also too busy with cruise ships and too hot in the day. It is possible to get taxis but that wasn’t really what we’d hoped for and the walk is lovely but just too far really (35-40 minutes). We had to have a takeaway breakfast on our last day because of an early flight which was terrible so make sure you can have your breakfast in the hotel.

HIDEOUS OWNER

Reviewed By 746olgar

I was not accommodated, but the experience of the first contact with the so-called owner of the hotel was extremely disgusting that can denigrate the image of the whole region, respectively no tourist could get around because of him !!! Instead of being kind and hospitable, he behaved in the dirtiest and horrible way possible to drive away customers. Later I found out that he is the most outrageous man in the whole Kotor region. Too bad such people spoil the image of such a beautiful location, where at first glance I thought everyone was so good. I'm sorry for the restaurant inside the hotel, it was super delicious and the service was superlative. I don't understand how a so-called owner (and his equally dirty family) can run a hotel and receive guests. Awful !!!!!!

Amazing

My wife & i spent a week in this apartment in June 2019 & as the title states it really was amazing. If your thinking of travelling to Kotor then i would recomment Apartments Lazarevic. Goran (Owner) is a wonderful host & provides you with lot's of useful tips. The aprtments have everything you need. It's only a short 10 minute walk down to the sea front or slighlty longer if your walking to the old town. There are lots of restaurants to choose from either in the old town ot the sea front. I just know we will return to Kotor & wouldnt hesitate to stay in this apartment again.

Amazing balcony view

Reviewed By sheffieldeats

Excellent view from our balcony of the old fort and church. Perfect distance from old town just across the bridge to the town walls. Comfortable room. Helpful owner who help sort out our hire car arrangements when we were moving on. Gave great information about using new ferry boats (Graciana and Elektra) to see the bay and travel back from Hertzeg Novi via Perast.

The BEST place to stay in Montenegro!

Reviewed By 670jocelyns

We rented the entire place for 5 nights. We had a large group of family and friends. It was fantastic! We have rented villas all over Europe and this is as good as they get. The place is stunning. Between the beautiful pool and the gorgeous dock on the Adriatic it could not have been better. The staff at the villa were excellent! They really want you to have a fantastic vacation and go out of their way to make it perfect. The chef is wonderful! We have a friend who is born and raised in Kotor and travels back every summer. She ate with us a few nights and said it was the best food in Montenegro. There were some reviews that complained it was too far from Kotor. It is not walking distance but because of the cruise ships, I would not want to be in Kotor during the day. It was much better to be able to enjoy the Adriatic during the day and explore Kotor in the evening. Terrific villa!

Good apartment just outside town. Great host!

Reviewed By 135rogerd

This apartment does exactly what is expected of it. Jadranka provided a fantastic welcome - beer, cold drinks and chocolates. Every time we saw her she was very friendly and popped round mid way through the week with cakes she had made. Such a lovely person! The apartment was nice - it had a large double bedroom, bathroom and a separate kitchen/dining/sitting area. The kitchen was well equipped - though we only used to it make breakfast and chill drinks etc. There is a large outside patio area which is great, and has fantastic views across the Kotor bay and you can watch the large cruise ships going back and forth. At night time it was quiet, though the traffic on the street during the day was a bit loud for sitting outside for a long time. The air conditioning worked well in the lounge and just about cooled through the bedroom for hot nights. It was a short walk down hill to town (uphill on the way back) along the busy road, but a bit of a longer walk took you down the hill to the bay, with an area of bars restaurants and beach which was nicer and a more peaceful walk into down. We ate down here one night too and that was great. Overall we would recommend especially for the hospitality. Location wise, this is probably about as close to town you can get an apartment this good!

Awful experience and ruined vacation

Reviewed By Inga_Maples

We had booked an apartment for 3 nights. After the first two nights we were asked to leave because some child has gotten sick and there was absolutely no possibility to ask them to leave (be aware, a very common scam in Montenegro). The host found us another apartment in Dobrota with a street view and of course no beach. The new apartment is much smaller and simply awful. The smell from the bathroom is unbearable. There is no way to escape the noise from the road. There is even no kettle in the kitchen. Needless to say that we are very disappointed. We went to Kotor to enjoy the beach and the sea view, not the noisy road and smell from the sink. The host said that we could still use the beach but there is absolutely no way anyone would like to go this far in wet clothes. Speaking about Villa PM - the beach at villa was great for sure. The apartment itself was very dirty, the furniture is falling apart. We would still love to stay one more night because of the beach but it was not possible. Apparently they have sold our apartment to someone else for a higher price... We even cant leave a negative feedback on booking.com because Maria emailed us that she would book the apartment for us herself. Think twice before booking an apartment here!
