Not a place to buy a bar snack
Reviewed By finabugWe had travelled all day to Oban and just wanted a light snack and drink before heading for our pod accommodation. So we called into this hotel. What a disappointment . The lady behind the bar was quite short with us when we asked could we just have a drink and chips or a small snack. She asked quite abruptly were we guests? We said no …? she then said svd pointed rudely …sit there! We watched her make some comment about us to the young waiter before he came to take our order. we ordered our drinks and two light snacks. Chips and faloffel, which were very tasty and all that we needed. We finished our food, drinks and paid. We won’t be returning there again.

The Lochnell Arms Hotel is a small family run hotel in a spectacular Loch side location, situated just 5 miles outside of Oban. We have 10 on-suite bedrooms, lounge bar, restaurant which is also open to non residents, outside terrace, and public bar with pool table and darts. The cosy lounge bar has a large open fireplace, and the restaurant has a stunning view over the Loch. All our meals are home made and freshly prepared by our chefs, who use local produce where possible. Popular Sunday carvery served all year round.

Reviewed By Anne SGood car park and we had a nice view from our room. The initial impression we had of the reception area and the corridors was that the place generally needed some TLC. The window in our room was very draughty. We had our evening meal at the hotel and it was ok. Overall our stay was ok.

A gem of a find
Reviewed By emmalittlebAs we approached this hotel, my husband (who’d booked it as a birthday surprise) muttered “based on my phone calls with these guys, I’ve got a good feeling about this place”. How right he was; what a gem of a pub/hotel/restaurant. The welcome was warm and genuine and our room was modern, spankingly clean and sleekly furnished (with a stunning view of the harbour). We sank a couple of pints in the public bar (a “proper pub” with good beers and lots of friendly chatter) before enjoying a really excellent dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast the next morning was also good (esp the smoked haddock). We will definitely stay again; it’s highly convenient for the island ferries without having to be in Oban.

Reviewed By Alantowell29Stayed for last night, (wish it was more). Our room (5) had stunning views, was delightful, cosy and had everything you could wish for. A really comfortable bed provided a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was amazing my wife ( normally has tea and toast ) devoured the porridge with prunes and had the salmon& scrambled eggs. I highly recommend the full Scottish breakfast!. Due to the Covid restrictions we only met our hosts at breakfast. Completely out of nowhere it turned out that Steve and I had a common link with work colleagues from 30 odd yrs previous…..Haha. We will certainly return if we are in the area to stay and catch up. A clean, nice room with its own shower, sink & toilet. Comfortable beds and a great breakfast from Laura's lovely husband. Free parking spaces are directly at the house. Yes - gladly again Laura!

Grove House is an owner run 4 star bed and breakfast. At all times we strive to exceed our guests expectations making each stay special. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated with brand new bathrooms fitted in 2018. An extensive breakfast is served daily. Parking is available for all guests, and is free of charge. Wi Fi connectivity is superb throughout the entire property and is complimentary. Guests have use of a lounge and conservatory to relax in during a stay.
