Reviewed By George VAs a fully retired software business owner, in September 2019 I decided to relive my own Geek's Odyssey and revisit a few "unknown" Greek Islands that I had discovered 40 years earlier, as a youthful 25 year old, ready to conquer the world. Anyway, on this latest trip I struck gold in finding the Hermes Hotel on TripAdvisor. In a nutshell: 1. The location and views are amongst the best in the world. No accident that millionaire artists and musicians have built huge mansions just below the Hermes - basically to share the same stunning views and natural beauty of this area. 2. The staff and owner could not be more helpful or friendly. 3. Great Food available in the Cafe (go for the Greek specials) 4. Really nice pool, with friendly barman. 6. Ok for this bargain price don't expect The Ritz, but the rooms are simple and clean, fine for a break in the sun (and expect plenty of that on Ios even in the low season months). 7. Any problems I had were attended to by the helpful staff or the owner himself without any grumbles - but do allow for the fact that on Ios everything works on Greek time .... but when in Greece do as the Greeks do - be patient, relax, enjoy life.

The rooms are really clean, with great air conditioning and very spacious. The outside area is lovely and the owner is just wonderful. I'd highly recommend staying here.

What an absolute gem!
Reviewed By SophiajeydaVilla Maria is a beautiful, quaint and traditional feeling Bed and Breakfast. We were made to feel instantly welcome and at home when we arrived early on the first morning. The Villa is run by the owners who live on site. Maroussa and her husband are extremely friendly, helpful and willing to go out of their way (for example driving my friend and I to the port when our stay was over). The villa itself is comfortable, very clean and our room was simple yet had everything we needed including an outdoor patio area. The pool area is peaceful and the nearest beach is a 2 minute walk away. The breakfast available was freshly prepared to order and delicious - we loved the fresh fruit salad with local yogurt, honey and the most beautiful figs which had come from the owner's family's trees! I would highly recommend Villa Maria and will certainly return if I get the opportunity!

Reviewed By Zoë HPositives: Excellent location with close walking distance to Ios town, a mini market and to the bus stop if adventuring out. Beautiful pool terrace area with impressive sunset views over Ios and a convenient pool bar with a range of drinks and snacks available - all reasonably priced. There was also a variety of massage services available to pre book during your stay. Super friendly staff that are happy to help. Free transfer to and from the port was a brilliant service included. Hotel breakfast was basic (tea/coffee/juice/egg/toast/pastries/jams) but seemed reasonable at €6pp if you did not fancy the walk to town to find a place each morning. Room had a mini fridge and good AC which was useful. The family running the hotel also own a restaurant called The Mills where they gave us 10% off our meal as hotel guests, we highly recommend using this incentive as the food was really good and great value. To know before booking: Our double room (Room 21) consisted of 2 single beds pushed together and an extra single bed to the side. The main bed mattresses were both poor quality and pretty uncomfortable but did the job for a few nights. One out of the 2 was particularly bad and springs has totally gone in the middle leading to poor nights sleep. The room Itself felt dated and a bit grubby. Walls etc needed a good paint. Don’t expect a fresh and modern room if booking here as this was not the case. Simple and basic. Bathroom had a little mould in the shower and the tap fixture in the bathroom was also broken and unattached from the basin. Balcony was very tiny and had a view of the back of the property and a cement mixer - we decided not to use this area. The hotel grounds are located at the top of the hill hence the great views but it is a short and steep walk back up from the town. This was not a huge issue for us but please be aware others may struggle.

A good place to rent a car for touring the island of Ios.
Reviewed By Peter SI used the Acteon car hire service. The staff were very helpful, and the car was perfect for my needs. It comes with a full tank of fuel, which you can easily replace when returning the vehicle.Easily the best way to run these operations. My off/low season rate was very reasonable too. The site is right near the ferry terminal, and so is very convenient.

Especially the man on the desk (forgot his name) but he gave us a lift to the port and also throughout our time there was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to ios.
