Not far from Siracusa and Catania, Brucoli Resort is situated amongst lush flora and tall palm trees that give it a sub tropical feeling. The modern Mediterranean style building is made up of a central body with different wings, of one or two stories. This allows the building to be pleasantly emerged in the surrounding green park which slopes gently down towards the sea.
I wanted to treat my wife and I by booking a delux room with a sea view. The room has a tiny window and a garden balcony which if you exit and walk a bit you can see the sea in the distance. The room was stuffed with 4 beds and left no actual room for walking or opening the balcony door for example. The village is just a huge tourist trap. No delux. No sea view. After complaining we were offered an upgrade but frankly it was late and I’m sure the “upgrade” would be equally disappointing. It’s a bit like an up market Butlins.

New B&B positioned in Brucoli , near Augusta ( 5 km) , Catania Airport (25 km) , Siracusa (30 km). the best solution with the best view
B&B Brucoli was just what we needed. Lovely Italian, modern and active family (Diana and Francesco with two lovey boys). They have rented us two bikes to get to lovely shore (recommended by Francesco) where me and my husband were almost alone and did some nice snorkeling. In the morning we woke up to the view of Etna and smell of the croissants freshly baked by Diana :) We enjoyed also one km walks to the local small port and panificio - local bakery (one of them is also next to the B&B). The place is very clean and modern and safe and we felt very welcomed.

The Venus Sea Garden Resort is situated among the rocks of a splendid bay, where you can lose yourself in the soft harmony of its sandstone construction. The hotel is extended upon a promontory, in a charming setting filled with gardens rich with beautiful flowers and terraces overlooking the sea. Furthermore, the resort enjoys unbeatable views of Etna.
When we booked in June we checked and the reviews were good. I don't know what happened but there was no way that this was 4 star. The only redeeming features were the three wonderful staff, Giuseppe, Sayeed and Veronica and without them, we would have considered walking out. The rooms are tired and although clean, I could not see the need for a rubber sheet on the bed. If I become incontinent I will let hotels know. There was only one rubbish bin in the whole room - in the bathroom. The shower curtain was too short. The hairdryer was like a light breeze. The public areas were unkempt and I did not once see the outside paths being swept. There were broken hammocks outside on the lawn. When wanting to sit round the pool no staff helped with umbrellas or sunbeds. The area was rarely tidied and I did not see the pool being cleaned. One night there was a storm and subsequent power cut (not the fault of the hotel of course) but the next night the outside lights remained out and guests were having to walk around with their mobile phones in torch mode. But the real and major let down was the food which was totally unacceptable. There was very little choice at either breakfast or dinner - both buffet style. The food which was there was repetitive and was not kept hot. For a country that makes its own wine, bar prices were outrageously high. This hotel is quite remote and there are no restaurants in walking distance so we reluctantly put up with the food. An example is that one evening the menu advertised pork with potatoes. No sign of potatoes and when asked, the restaurant "manager" shrugged her shoulders and said that they didn't have any. It was obvious that some of their pasta dishes contained leftovers from the night before. Very worrying as far as food hygiene is concerned! All in all a bad hotel experience and I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Extremely disappointed. The descriptions found on Booking.com, Airbandb and TripAdvisor all sport a wonderful swimming pool, and LIE about the distance from the properties to the beach (it’s nearly 1k rather than the 400m we were assured when calling the property prior to our trip there). The pool, an external private structure, is not part of the property and also far from house, and it was closed due to the owners family circumstances (we were not warned tgat the pool would be shut!). Also, you need to book your place by the pool in advance as it might be crowded and unavailable! The property was DIRTY, air conditioning charged at extra price, the rooms setting different from advertised, dirty and small (the place stank of urine!!) My elderly mother (74years old) was told to sleep in a separate room downstairs (without air conditioner), also an extremely dirty room which smelled of dampness, and advised not to go to the beach by the property manager (26th of July... in Sicily!!!). As we weren’t pleased and tried to sort a refund through Booking.com, the manager asked us to leave and shut the gates, so we were left for 3 hours under the scorching sun outside the property as we tried to come to an agreement with her through Booking.com. Also, she shut the doors as I was beginning to take pictures to send to Booking.com to show the state the property was in, so I could only take a couple of snaps. The owner (or manager, we don’t know!) lied to booking saying first that we left the property willingly (not that she kicked us out!) and then that we did not present ourself to the property at all!!! Booking.com tried to help us out but the owner refused to refund us, even though we pointed out that they lie in their advertising and we felt scammed. The photos below in red show what’s advertised but not representing the whole truth: ie the pool is not actually part of the residence and they provide no info on costs and availability, the beach is 1km and not as advertised, some of the properties are part of a new complex and still under construction, etc. watch out! Avoid if you’re looking for a CLEAN, relaxing holiday!

no no no, non è quello che viene proposto. non c'è il campo da tennis, non c'è il servizio in camera, non c'è il parcheggio. le foto non rappresentano la realtà è semplicemente l'appartamento di un signore, gentile per carità, ma non è un B&B.
