Delightful family-run hotel, perfect for a relaxing holiday in the heart of Umbria
Reviewed By Paul LWe moved to this hotel from another that had been disappointing, and were very pleased that we did. It is a very clean and comfortable hotel, and even has its own swimming pool - which seems to be something of a rarety in this part of Italy - and great food. This is a family run business, and all the better for it, their friendliness being second to none. Being a small hotel, breakfast is self-serve 'continental' in style, with a good choice of high quality foods. Dinner menu changes daily, and the quality of food belies the modest surroundings. It was easy to eat too much! The restaurant seemed popular with locals, which is a good recommendation. The pool is a decent size, with adjoining paddling areas for smaller children, and there seemed to be enough sunbeds, with a few sunshades available. The one slight negative factor was a number of biting insects around the pool area, but not surprising given the countryside location, and they didn't spoil our enjoyment. The location was very convenient, being on the very edge of a small town with several other restaurants being within walking distance (though we were not moved to try them, being very satisfied with the hotel's food), Assisi on the nearby hill was alluringly visible from the hotel's pool, and only a few minutes away by bus or car - compelling place to visit. Numerous other villages and towns are within easy travelling distance. Nearby Perugia has an airport, though we travelled from Rome (a two hour drive)

Surprisingly good food
Reviewed By idandbThis is a review of the restaurant, not the hotel. The location is uninspiring, the main advantage being that is is very convenient for Perugia airport, just down the road. However, once sitting at the back of the hotel in the restaurant it is very pleasant with nice views over the gardens. (The airport is very quiet with few flights so no noise problems). The chef is from Emilia Romagna rather than Umbria & so the menu reflects that. They serve unusual and interesting dishes, very generous portions, and a good wine list. It is not cheap though so needs to be a bit of a special occasion.

They directed us to a couple of great places to eat. Their BnB was spotless and the grounds were equally impressive. They are well located in the town. They obviously enjoy their commitment to their guests!

Even the oil that you will find in the pantry is produced by the olive trees of family, handpicked and ground with a "cold pressing".Not infrequently you will ever see the two founders of the family Rosabella, Mr. Pietro and Mrs. Peppa, prowling around the farmhouse for treat animals or harvest the vegetables in the garden.Even the little Francesco will dawn with his friends to spend beautiful evenings of outdoor play.Walking in the surroundings you can find many farm animals such as rabbits, turkeys and chickens that produce eggs every day, but also nice goats!In short, the farmhouse Bellarosa is ready to offer you a unique experience of relaxation and real contact with nature.

Reviewed By Submariner246Bellarosa is a true agritismo, Which means it is a working farm. The farm is surrounded by fields. The rooms/guest quarters are very nice. The guest building has been restored and the workmanship is to be commended. The craftsmanship and quality is in the rooms. The kitchen area is well appointed with everything you need. You prepare your continental breakfast and make your own coffee, For us, this was great. Your given all the supplies you need for a simple breakfast, toast jams and honey coffee and milk. If you want more and want to stock up, there is a supermarket short distance up the road on your way to Bastia. Your bedroom looks out to Assisi, a wonderful view over the fields. Bellarosa is in Costano, within the commune of Bastia. Very conveniently located to hope on the superstrada is you want to take day trips to towns like Orvieto, Gubbio , Sienna etc. It is also located within just a few minutes (15-30 minutes) drive to several wonderful hill towns and vineyards/wineries. Be prepared to taste some wonderful wines. Assisi is about 20 minutes away and to see it properly expect to spend the entire day. Sergio and his family and try and do everything possible to make your stay wonderful. Sergio speaks the most English, but remember your in Italy and you should try to experience the language as well as the food. A tablet or smart phone with google translate works wonders. You don't need an alarm clock, the rooster works just fine and after 6 or 7 cock-a-doodle doos it has a built in snooze alarm. I really enjoyed this. Remember your on a farm, not a hotel where they turn down your sheets. Overall a great place to stay at a very good price in a wonderful location

La camera (209) seppur ampia e pulita, presentava alcune pecche: sky non funzionante e bassa pressione del soffione della doccia nel tardo pomeriggio(dalle 19 in poi). Colazione buona e abbondante. Staff cordiale.

Here for work but a lovely base if touring and close by to visit the Basilica on Assisi for St Francis Tomb. Friendly andnheloful staff make this a great stay with goid food and nearby restraunts if wanting to venture out.

La struttura è ottima, con una splendida visuale della collina dove Assisi la sera si illumina per somigliare ad un magnifico presepe. La nostra stanza era grande, pulitissima, con due bagni ed un letto tra i più comodi che abbiamo mai trovato. Stessa cosa per la colazione, abbondante e servita splendidamente; Manuela ci ha dato ottime dritte e ci ha raccontato, assieme alla madre, ulteriori interessanti storie su San Francesco e la spiritualità in senso lato… Che dire di più? Di sicuro ci torneremo e desideriamo anche qui ringraziare il B&B “La Rosa di Assisi” per la memorabile esperienza! A presto!!!
