Reviewed By JJJC_FamilyHotel Meridiana We were in Arezzo and were going to go to Cortona, but we were tired and decided to stop in Anghiari, which my wife had found out about from an article in CNN Travel called "Europe's most beautiful towns", because it was closer and made a nice rest stop, anyway and we were hungry, too. Good decision. Anghiari was great with wonderful views. We went to the Battle of Anghiari Museum, which was very interesting and described a battle that I was vaguely reminded of as I went through the exhibits. The real star was the young lady holding down the fort, Margherita Fava. She was wonderfully friendly and helpful, beyond the call of duty. We asked about the Hotel Meridiana and she said it was lovely. We told her that when we called they said they did not speak English. She offered to call them on our behalf, which she did multiple times. They offered us their best room at the lowest rate and I attribute that to her calling them. When we got there and the parking was unclear as to whether we could actually park right in front of the hotel and there were at the moment no other spots in the little piazza there. She said she would come by to help. By the time she came a spot opened up in the piazza and we felt bad, because it was already after her work hours. She then came into the hotel to ensure our check-in went smoothly. We offered to take her out to dinner, but she felt it was unnecessary and I guess she wanted to get home to Arezzo after working the whole day. Despite not being able to speak English the gentleman at the desk was very nice throughout our stay. We had two bedrooms and plenty of space for luggage. It was relatively basic, but it met our needs, although my bed was on some railing that would move from side to side when I moved in bed or got out of bed to go to the bathroom. It was a bit unnerving and took some getting used to. On the extremely positive side, our room had a little balcony with a million dollar view of the town lit up at night. Absolutely magical. Reminded me of Alhambra lit up at night, a tough comparison to achieve. We went on it in the morning and the view was still great. Breakfast was a fairly limited affair - the standard breads, pastries, etc., but it had good coffee and you could get your own OJ bottles from a little fridge in the dining room and overall, it was fine. Considering the discounted room rate, it was a good deal for our one night stand there. By the way, make sure you take a walk along the city walls in the morning if the weather is nice. You get a fantastic view of the valley from on high. Bottom line: if you can get the room with the view, absolutely stay in Anghiari if you visit there, instead of making it a day trip. You will be glad you did.

Reviewed By Patricia GThis hotel has a friendly staff. They are helpful and willing to chat and give advice. Unfortunately my room had a ceiling window. It was very hot. There was still heating on and the outside temperature was over 30 degrees. I had to leave my room window open at all times and so the zanzare loved me!! Some rooms have fridges but alas! Mine didn’t. I was offered another room but the setup was the same. There was no WiFi available in my room. No toiletries either. The breakfast was sparse for those who did not like cake!! It was a bit like Fawlty Towers! Cold milk was on order but was still warm! I cannot fault the people or the cleanliness but it wouldn’t take much to improve this hotel.

Again, Dania and Pierre ( and their staff) made us feel so very welcome and treated us like family. We had dinner there and again it was special, all freshly prepared. Our intention was to create a Farmhouse good enough for everybody, where the owners are always present and where you will have the opportunity to breath and live in the middle of the nature, near by one of the most beautiful village of Italy. Reviewed By Flyer790314The most tranquil spot with an amazingly generous host family, were you can find the true Italy away from the mainstream tourist traps. The family make their own olive oil and wine which is a good as it gets. The accommodation is clean and practical, but the main attractions are the views and the short walk into the town.

Reviewed By maurimoA circa un km dal bellissimo paese di Anghiari, un poco elevato sull'altura, si trova questo complesso rurale ristrutturato pregevolmente in modo molto conservativo ma senza nulla togliere al comfort. La tranquillità e la pace sono assolute. Altre strutture adiacenti sono in fase di recupero per ampliare l'offerta. La posizione domina la val Tiberina: dal luogo si intravede in lontananza Sansepolcro e si gode di una stupenda vista delle alture e dei boschi intorno. Le camere sono spaziose, arredate con mobili "antichi" ma in perfetto stato; sono molto silenziose, ben riscaldate ed il bagno è adeguatissimo. L'accoglienza è stata splendida; arrivati nel pomeriggio del 31/12, si era concordato di partecipare ad una cena da "ultimo dell'anno" di tono discreto (la struttura per ora nn offre servizi di ristorazione), eccezionalmente predisposta per gli ospiti: alla fine si è trattato di un servizio splendido con cibi casalini preparati e serviti con cura e per nulla di tono minore, anzi! . Poi l'inaspettato spettacolo di mezzanotte della val Tiberina "incendiata" dai tradizionali fuochi d'artificio, vista dalla terrazza con flûte di buon spumante e panettone, da solo valeva la serata. Colazione eccellente in varietà e quantità: solo da lodare. Con la coppia di amici con cui abbiamo soggiornato si è deciso anche di prolungare la vacanza, tale è la cordiale e ottima ospitalità di Lorenzo e della sua famiglia. E' un ottimo punto di appoggio per visitare i musei di Anghiari, il bel paese e i dintorni ricchi di tanta arte e storia; per gli appassionati del trekking o delle passeggiate nel verde, non c'è che l'imbarazzo della scelta del percorso. Noi ne siamo rimasti entusiasti.

Reviewed By trosiaaWe stayed there (unfortunately) only 2 nights. The best place where have we been during our trip in Italy. Lovely view, atmosphere. Excellent place to relax. I wish to stay there longer. The owner was really helpful. Very clean rooms and well-equipped kitchen.
