Great location

Amazing hostel right in the heart of Brighton, the only downside is you might need earplugs as close to chalk nightclub. Staff were all helpful and room lovely, clean and comfortable. Room to leave luggage when checking in or out was useful.

Terrible management

Unaceptable, chek-in closed at 10. Nobody is there past that hour, we arrived late due to the bus as it was late. And they refused to do our check-in, however they charged us the night. We explained this problem to the manager and she didn't even care.

Shocking

Paid good money for a 2 night break, first time to Brighton. Booked through booking.com. Pictures and description seemed good so booked. On arrival, contactless. Room key in a key pad access box outside of room. Room smelt awful. Shower in room was filthy. Shared toilet stunk of smoke and unclean. Tried contacting owners but no response. Decided to leave and complain once home. Basically told non refundable and what do you expect from budget accommodation, something not made clear to me at time of booking. Ruined our first visit and anniversary trip.

Great hostel and friendly hosts

Reviewed By crazycyke

We stayed for two nights while we explored Eastbourne and the South Downs trail. We needed somewhere clean, family-friendly and dependable. Having stayed at other YHA's before, we happily booked at YHA Eastbourne and could not have been happier. The room was clean, the hosts friendly, and the location was great for what we wanted to do. We would happily stay again and can definitely recommend it to others. Craig.

Near a busy road but great facilities and local area

I stayed for a night to walk nearby and kayak off the coast. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the room and facilities were good and clean. The location on the South Downs Way and near the River Ouse is great for local walks. The nearby road is busy but you can quickly get away from this and explore. I kayaked from Seaford Beach which is just a 10 minute drive and well worth a visit as is Cuckmere Haven/Birling Gap. I had a really enjoyable stay and short trip.

Staff were incredibly welcoming, hosted fun social nights, and were very knowledgable about Oxford. What was supposed to be 1 night turned into 3 because I had such a great time. I met so many lovely travellers who I'm planning on meeting up with again. I've also recommended this hostel to other travellers who also loved it! Thank you, Central Backpackers!

On both the Thames Path and Ridgeway national trails. Enthusiastic and very helpful manager. Excellent breakfast in attractive dining area. Well equipped and sized self catering area and lounge. The hostel is overdue a makeover but is otherwise very clean. Reports on social media that the hostel is for sale.

Great Cycling weekend

Reviewed By Fearless323744

We are 3 adults (over 40) and haven’t stayed in a youth hostel for a long time so weren’t sure what to expect. However we were all pleasantly surprised. We shared a private en-suite room which was very clean and comfortable. We had a cooked breakfast every morning which was a great way to start the day before cycling around the New Forest. There is a lock-up shed for bikes so they are secure overnight. We were even able to have a beer in the hostel at the end of a long day!! It is right next to a pub (The White Buck) which does great food in the evening. Only 15 mins walk into Burley for more pubs and a couple of shops. I would thoroughly recommend.
