The best available Hostels hotel to stay near Merida

April 23, 2023 Enedina Augsburger

The Yucatan capital has both colonial and Mayan treasures to discover. Nearby ruins at Uxmal give some insight into the lives of the predecessors of the conquistadores, who arrived in 1542. Mayan culture is also still evident in Merida's daily life and in the many colorful festivals celebrated here.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights and would definitely stay again. Its an incredible deal. The hosts provide an excellent experience with a big breakfast array and eggs made to order. You can likely find other travelers making communal meals in the kitchen, enjoying each other’s company. Lots of seating and lounging area. A beautiful roof too! The women’s bathroom was cleaner than any hostel I’ve stayed in and had warm water in the showers. 13 minute walk from bus stations and close to the mini van services. Walking north is the touristy area and walking south - west you get where the locals are with incredible markets and cheap eats. There is a staircase to get inside.

Best location in the city

Reviewed By Thea S

My friends stayed here for 2 nights and it is in the best location in the city. Slap bang on the central main square and right next to the cathedral, tourist information and museums. Rooms are clean with aircon and the breakfast is unlimited. If you're coming to Merida for a cultural experience and to explore the city I would highly recommend this hostel.

Hostik Hostal

Few experiences compare to the adventure of traveling to see new places or return to places we miss. Hostik is strategically located in the heart of Mérida, just minutes from parks, museums, bars and markets. The Hostel is right in front of the old Railway Station, which operated from 1920 to 1974: an emblematic place for Yucatan.

The worst place I stayed!! Really terribli esperience

Reviewed By 2020Aroundtheworld

The pictures are outdated, nothing to do with the reality. The place is filthy and toilets are disgusting. In Covid times, please do not go there! They asked for the payment before seeing the room so we had no other choice than staying. Advert very deceiving. We ended up leaving and finding another place. Quite stressful situation if you arrive late. The beds are very old and with the springs coming out. Many good reviews but if you book a room from this place, you will certainly regret it. It is located in an area that have many decent hotels/ hostals for a similar price.

BEWARE! THIS IS A SCAM!

Reviewed By kaecylau

This is a honest review, this hotel is a scam. All you see in these pictures is fake. Where should I even start? Mold, dirt, dust, dirty bed sheets, no breakfast included (even if you paid for it, it is written in the description), humidity and terrible smell in the room because the wall ends 30cm before the roof (if you are a couple, you will enjoy all the noises as well). Cold water, almost no pressure. The Wifi was really bad. No coffee before 8am and when I took a mug from the kitchen it was dirty. The kitchen smell really bad. I complained to the employee at the reception. He said that he called his boss and his boss told him that my friend and I were lying and that we knew how it was when we booked. No apology, no refund, nothing. So please keep in mind, this is a SCAM!

No water to shower, no clean bed lines

Reviewed By Rosabel13

We didn't finish our stay. Our private room didn't have cold water to take a shower or clean sheets. Toilet didn't work properly neither. Breakfast was poor (not even milk), but this is not so relevant. It is more relevant to arrive to the hostel and cannot take a shower. The staff didn't care too much when we said to her. It is also funny they don't care about checking your travel documents (only a passport copy). However, it is mandatory to fill and sign a document about their cancelation policies asap. We don't recommend this hostel.

Great hostel to stay at. Clean and well kept common areas but best of all is the host. Go to him with any question and he'll help you. We had no plans when arriving in mérida and because of him we've had a great stay and seen some nice cinotes. Be advised that this is not a party hostel. It is a lovely family owned hostel to relax in. Good breakfast as well and coco the dog is very friendly so all in all great stay at a good price.

Great Hostel, located adjacent to Parque De San Juan

Reviewed By Mike W

This was a very clean and quiet hostel located to the south west of the city center. The park close-by provided a good landmark for taxi rides. The air-conditioning was great and there is a common area with desks. The price was perfect and Merida was the best place I've ever been in Yucutan.
