The best available Hostels hotel to stay near Kochi (Cochin)

May 7, 2023 Tonie Szymanski

A blending of several small villages on the southwestern coast created the current incarnation of Kochi (or Cochin), where sunset strolls, sampling fresh fish from seaside vendors and boat rides through the islands just offshore top visitors' to-do lists. Art centers showcase the traditional dance, Kathakali. European influences are seen in the 16th-century Portuguese-built churches and forts, while the mark of early Chinese traders is visible in the unusual fishing nets dotting the shoreline.

Santa Maria (horrible hostel)

Reviewed By Joeymz

The hostel is not what it looks like in the pictures. The property is very run down, and dirty. The nights sleep is not good as we were disturbed by mosquitoes all night and covered in bites, there were cockroaches running around in the room and the bathroom. The room was full of damp and had no hot water. It got to the point of discomfort we left a day early to go to a hotel. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. The only good thing about the hostel is the location as it is central and the staff which are very friendly.

Budget backpacker hostel

This is now under the name of Lost Hostels. Spent two nights here in a 6-bed mixed dorm. Strongest point was value for money - only 400 INR/night inc breakfast. Bed clean and comfortable, with good large lockers underneath (use own padlock). Dorm room very stuffy with limited ventilation (and no AC), unfortunately my top bunk wasn't covered by the standing nor ceiling fans. Bathroom bit grimy but acceptable. Shower pretty feeble. Decent breakfast included - toast, eggs, bananas, even idli. Staff friendly and helpful and communal areas well used. Apparently new AC is being arranged.

The Best in Kochi

I stayed at Metro Pod in Sept. 2019. It has the best location - close to the Metro, ferry point as well as the Kochi Marine Drive. I would definitely highly recommend this place, for either business or tourist travel.

Budget friendly

The location is great for a walking distance to the beach and Chinese fishnets. The place has a very different feeing. One suggestion would be to get a shower fixed in the bathroom instead of the hand shower.
