Coolest hostel in town!!

Reviewed By alexmP5956CJ

While located in the middle of a giant staircase, Casa de Dante is the cutest hostel ever with amazing artwork everywhere while there lie incredible views from the balconies. Our room was beautiful with a spacious private bathroom, though a bit chilly at night. Thankfully there were extra thick blankets stocked in the closet for us to use! Each morning we received a filling, home cooked breakfast to fuel a full day of touring Guanajuato. Everyone at the hostel was very personable, staff and guests alike, creating a peaceful atmosphere. It was also nice being away from the noise of downtown and our guide showed us neat back alleys down la Bajada de la Tecolote that brought us right down to the centro. Loved getting in some good exercise walking around town and up and down the many stairs--all made for an amazing experience!! Can't wait to come back to La Casa de Dante and the wonderful city!

Lovely cafe and great food!

A beautiful, tranquil cafe and art gallery. Just finished a very good Salmon baguette and Mediterranean salad and latte. All really good and prices were reasonable. Situated on a quiet square up a little alley behind Teatro Principal.

I really enjoyed this place. Comfortable private room with a small door opening to the outside for nice views of the small plaza and life going by. The staff is very friendly and the place was clean while I was there. The rooftop terrace is fantastic! Wi-Fi worked well also.

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!

Reviewed By robertsours

Firstly, this is NOT A HOTEL!!! It is more like a hostel located within an old home (very well situated though) and depending on the room it can be somewhat adequate —mind you, completely overpriced for what it is— or it can be downright depressing and ridiculously overpriced for what you get! The cheaper rooms are tiny, dark and smell of old, dusty furniture, with super thin hear-it-all walls. (Old sheets, furnishings, etc). —Plus, these cheap hostel type rooms share two tiny bathrooms which (female-male) which are totally inadequate. These are dirty and literally the toilet is sitting right underneath the shower. One has no ventilation at all or window. (I've actually stayed at much better cheap hostels around the world for a tiny fraction of the price). To make matters even worse the hotel clerk tried to charge us $5 dollars for holding our bags for a couple of hours while our transport left the city. Overall, one of the worst experiences I've had in my lodging acommodotations during my world travels. The place is SIMPLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! Look elsewhere...

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Guanajuato!

Reviewed By Solatraveler1

Carmen is a delight! I spent 3 nights there earlier this month. There are undoubtedly fancier places, and places located right in the city center... but there is no place with a friendlier, sweeter, more helpful host. When she tells you "mi casa es su casa," you know she really means it. Carmen's English is good enough to communicate with you, even if you have little Spanish. She'll provide you a map, directions, bus info and recommendations for restaurants and cafes. The city center is an easy, interesting 20-minute walk and there's a bus stop right across the street if you prefer. And not only do you get Carmen, you also get a delicious breakfast every morning (she cheerfully accommodated my need for vegan), an excellent bed, and abundant hot water in the shower. Our room had a terrace from which we could see the mountains in the distance and activity on the street below. El Hogar de Carmelita is a tremendous value!

Hostel Guanajuato

The best in Guanajuato

Reviewed By Bodrimir

Have seen personally 7 hostels in Guanajuato. Slept first at one, but when I saw this one, just switched for it. The place is in the historical area, close to everything. One of the best located hostels for sure. Has a nice backyard terrace and nice living room and kitchen. Pros (good): - location - clean - perfect living room and kitchen - the terrace Cons (to improve): - only two bathrooms. Even if they are nice and clean, they are not enough - the noise at night at one of the dorms - there is a club next door and you feel like sitting on the bass. Not cool. Isolation would help a bit. If you're tired or have good headphones, you might not hear it. In general, I loved that hostel and I'm going back.

Katrin Poshtel

Katrin Poshtel is a hostel ideally located in the middle of downtown Guanajuato, Mexico, in a very safe and quiet neighborhood that allows to enjoy downtown without being bothered by noise from the bars nearby. Guests will find a cozy building decorated to the Mexican way. Open access for all guests to the roof terrace allows to enjoy a breathe taking view to the center and also to the "Pipila" (the most iconic statue of the city). In addition, the most important for us is that our customers get from our servic a unique, different, pleasant and safe experience.

Best service and view in the city.

It's located in the centre of Guanajuato, which only takes 2-3 mins walk to Jaded Union Garden, and 10 mins walk to Mercado de Gavira Market. It's super convenient to any attractions in the downtown. Room was very clean and tidy. It also provides shampoo and shower gel which is good. The beds were comfy too. The two owners Armando and Raul are very friendly and welcomed. Anything you wonder about the city, just ask them, they will recommend you nice restaurants and nice bars in the neighbourhood. The highlight of this hostel is it's beautiful balcony! I like it so much, you will see the entire Guanajuato view from the middle of the city. The view is amazing both during daytime and nighttime. When you see the view there, you know you make the right choice. Highly recommend this hostel to anyone who loves good vibes and a peaceful city view.
