Australia is as varied as it is enormous-- it is home to thriving cities, vast wilderness, and earnest, friendly people. Sydney is for sophisticates, with its famous opera house and annual Sculpture By the Sea outdoor art exhibits. Port Douglas makes a great base for snorkeling or diving the Great Barrier Reef, and quaint lighthouses keep vigil along the beaches of Byron Bay. Melbourne is a hub of rousing cricket activity, and the limestone pillars of the Pinnacles Desert are a natural wonder.

Marysville Garden Cottages

Marysville Garden Cottages have eight cottages designed for couples looking for a relaxing retreat. Located in Marysville's main street, the cottages have a touch of old world charm while still integrating modern comforts and are within a short stroll to cafes and shops. Inside, the cottages vary slightly, but all have a relaxed country feel. Classic features included in some of the cottages are a claw foot bath, box window seat, timber flooring and stained-glass windows. Other indulgent features available are a luxury deep-soaking bath or double spa bath. Each cottage has a gas log fire, perfect for Marysville's chilly winter months. While these cottages generally cater for couples with a queen or king size bed, some can accommodate separate sleeping arrangements for one extra adult via a sofa bed or day bed. All have been designed using energy saving principles which add to your comfort and minimalise environmental impact. Each cottage has its own private veranda overlooking different aspects of the garden.

Good accommodation but very cold when temperature drops

Great views from our unit which was directly on the hills above the water. Caravan Park type units with sufficient amenities for our stay. When the temperature dropped the unit was cold which suggested no insulation. The park was outside the town so needed a car to get groceries etc.

Disappointed

Reviewed By 284debs

My husband and I were disappointed with this accommodation because it did not live up to our expectations. Whilst the setting is idyllic and unique, the cabins were average and you had to walk to reception every time you needed drinking water. You couldn't even boil water. They had not had rain for quite some time and were using river water which cannot be used for human consumption. Whilst we understand this and appreciate that this was out of their hands, they could have provided bottled water for guests. You pay a fortune to stay here and get sub-standard facilities. We went on the 2 boat cruises and, whilst the longer of the two was ok, the shorter one of the two was very underwhelming. The restaurant served excellent meals but very expensive and consisted of fine dining food. I feel that they could have provided something more homely at a far lesser cost for those guests who wished to purchase something a little less expensive. The bed also needed replacing.

After a long drive it wasn't a friendly welcome to be advised of the strict 2.00pm check in and how we should have read the multiple pages of information provided. Our bad. However after returning at 2.00pm we were very pleased to be shown our accommodation for the overnight stay in the newer units which were well furnished with a deck out the back and lovely large glass sliding windows. There were free laundry facilities on site. The township of St Helens is a very short drive and worth a look.

One of the best places to stay. You'll love it!

Reviewed By reneepW8590EL

My husband and I decided to book a little getaway before the birth of our first child. We couldn't have picked a better place. This is one of the most relaxing and value for money places you'll experience. Your own detached cottage set in peaceful bushland, overlooking the Eastern Golf Course. The moment you get there you'll want to be out enjoying your balcony, with kangaroos mere metres away to greet you morning and evening. The fireplace is a real perk and we enjoyed the most delicious BBQ hamper breakfast, delivered to our door and cooked on our balcony in the morning. Every room is spacious and immaculate and we awoke to the most beautiful sunrise. Cant wait to stay there again.

Fabulous First Trip to Noosa Avalon Cottages

Myself, my husband, and our German Shepherd Merlin, stayed for two nights in the Heritage Cottage. The cottage is absolutely exquisite, like stepping back in time, and we love the original features and attention to decorative detail. The paved fire pit area is excellent, and the whole place is immaculately clean. We were very comfortable, with beautiful nature views, and saw the cows around our verandah, and the little ponies. We just loved it, and will definitely recommend it, and be back to visit again. Thank you to the owners for providing such a lovely place to stay.
